Kids need a good night’s sleep in order for their young bodies to be energized, which provides a more focused mind and attention the next morning. The quality of sleep your kid gets every night also plays a significant role in their physical and mental development. And, your kid will only experience all of the benefits of sleep if they get to sleep on a mattress that fits their preferences.

Thus, your child needs a comfortable mattress with good body support in order for them to enjoy a good night’s sleep. The mattress they use should also fit their height and weight, as well as their preferred sleeping position. In that way, your toddler will have proper growth and development.

In this post, you’ll learn the signs when your child needs a new mattress. This way, you’ll know when to switch to a bigger mattress, as well as you’ll be guided in choosing the best mattress for your little one.

Your Baby Is Now Getting Older

As soon as your baby turns one, they’re already considered a toddler. By this time, they will have different needs and start to reach important milestones in life. Everything your child experiences during this time can mold their personality and significantly affect their growth. This stage spans until age three.

Experts highly recommend bigger mattresses for toddlers that measure 38 (width) by 75 (length) inches. When your kid reaches this measurement, more often than not, they already have outgrown their cribs. They might still fit inside their cribs, but they will likely be uncomfortable and stiff when they’re inside it. As your kid starts to age, keep in mind that their bodies will also grow bigger. So, how do you know if your toddler is ready to move into a regular bed?

Here are some helpful tips when your little one is transitioning from a crib to a bigger mattress:

  • Usually, children can switch from crib to a toddler bed at 1 ½ to 3 ½.
  • The best time to upgrade your child’s mattress from a crib mattress to a bigger mattress is as soon as they’re closer to three years old. If possible, start scouting for options before your kid reaches three. In this way, you can easily prepare for the purchase and find the best mattress that fits your kid’s needs the moment they ask for it.
  • If your child is now too active or simply too big to sleep in a mattress, you can introduce and shop for the best twin mattress
  • Don’t rush on shopping for a new bed when you first see your toddler climbing out of the baby crib. Doing this will only put money down the drain and increase your kid’s susceptibility to accidents and injuries.

Climbing out of the crib is normal behavior for growing kids. Once you see your kid exhibit this behavior, lower the crib mattress with the side rails higher. Contrary to popular belief, you shouldn’t immediately introduce your kid to a bigger mattress the moment they learn how to climb out of their cribs.

You can also consider adding several pillows on the side of the crib to discourage your kid from climbing off of it. If this proves to be ineffective and you see that your kid still goes out of their crib on their own, then you can go and purchase a bigger mattress for them. You just have to make sure that the height of the mattress from the floor is appropriate for your kid’s height.

Your Child Shows Sudden Change In Behavior

If your little one is suddenly having regular tantrums or always irritable, it’s one sign that they may not be getting enough sleep. Sleep is important for every human being, most especially for kids, since their brains and bodies are still growing.

Sleep deprivation can weaken your kid’s immune system and can even impair their bodily functions. A sleep-deprived kid will likely grow to be sickly, making it challenging for them to excel in school and socialize with their peers. If you want to steer away from this direction, spend some time observing your child if they’re having trouble getting sleep at night.

If you start noticing the behavioral changes, the possible culprit is the mattress. Sleeping in a small or uncomfortable mattress will cause your kid to twist and turn throughout the entire night and can lead to sleep deprivation. Your kid’s inability to sleep can also take a toll on your own health. More often than not, your kid will wake you up in the middle of the night and inform you that they can’t sleep at all.

Don’t allow you and your child’s day to be ruined because of this problem. If you notice your kid has been losing sleep regularly or has been waking you up for several nights in a week already, it might be best if you invest in a new mattress for them.

Here are other signs that your child is not getting the right amount and quality of sleep at night:

  • Frequent tossing and turning
  • Their back is soaked in sweat
  • Frequently awakens at night to drink water or complains of increased thirst
  • Cries early morning for unknown reasons
  • Sleeps longer and better in the day

Your Child Is Already Toilet Trained

Your kid will have to visit the toilet several times during the night. Depending on their age and usual activities during the day, they will pee and poop when everyone else is sleeping. It is your role as a parent to wake up and help your kid do their business in the toilet. You don’t want to let your kid sleep in a wet or stinky crib, right?

But, if you’re one of the lucky parents who have successfully toilet trained their kid, it might be time to give them a new mattress. If they already have the discipline to wake up in the middle of the night and do their business in the toilet all by themselves, then you don’t have anything to worry about. When your kid is toilet trained, you’ll have peace of mind knowing that your kid can sleep soundly even while in their own bedroom and on their own mattress.

It’ll also be easy to clean and maintain the condition of a bigger mattress if your kid is already toilet trained. You’ll also enjoy longer hours of uninterrupted sleep if your kid isn’t bothering you in the middle of the night because they want to pee.

Your Child Is Seemingly Not Happy Using the Mattress

Your little one might show and express discomfort using the mattress you’ve recently bought. As mentioned, sleeping on a wrong mattress may cause sleeping problems in your kid.

It could be something to do with the firmness or softness of the mattress. It might not be the right size or type of mattress for your child, or you probably need to find a new mattress with the best features that perfectly suit your toddler’s sleeping habits.

Here are some of the features you need to look for when buying a new and bigger mattress for your toddler:

  • Density: Choose a mattress that’s dense enough or one you cannot push easily when you press your hands at the sides of the bigger mattress. The density of the mattress is a subjective decision, so consider bringing your kid when you’re buying one. This will allow them to test the mattress and find the best mattress that suits their preferences.
  • Innerspring: Choose a bigger mattress with at least 150 coils made of steel for pressure support. This feature will support all of the pressure points of your kid’s body as well as all of their sleeping positions, making it easy for them to doze off and sleep soundly.
  • Waterproof: Expect your toddler to still poop, pee, spill liquids, and throw up on their mattress. Make sure to choose a waterproof mattress or buy a waterproof cover when buying a bigger mattress. Aside from having peace of mind knowing that your kid is sleeping in a clean environment, a waterproof mattress or cover will also save you a lot of time as you won’t have to change your mattress the moment your kid spills their milk on it.
  • Washable: Because mattresses, most especially those used by children, tend to accumulate dust mites due to frequent contact with spills and body secretions, it’s best to choose a washable mattress. A mattress that is easy to clean will likely encourage you to clean it as often as possible.
  • Eco-friendly Or Green Materials: For your child’s health and safety, make sure to choose a mattress that’s made of eco-friendly materials, meaning without harmful chemicals, like flame retardants, VOCs, phthalates, and polyurethane. Look for the accepted standard CertiPUR-US certification.

Conclusion

When your little one grows older, they might need to transition from a crib to a regular mattress. Toddlers may have problems getting sound sleep at night because their mattress feels uncomfortable.

The best mattress for toddlers is bigger mattresses because their size is perfect for children. Also, high-quality mattresses are equipped with the best features that are perfect for toddlers.

From the very tasty ogórki kwaszone (pickled cucumbers) and the pierogi (Polish ravioli) to the twaróg ze szczypiorkiem (cottage cheese with spring onion), Poland has a unique and unconventional taste. The traditional ingredients that make up Polish cuisine, such as beets, apples, potatoes, and buckwheat pay homage to the country’s long agrarian tradition. Here, the food needs to last through the winter which means plenty of pickles, preserves, fermented goods and smoked fish and meat. Head to Silesia to try the large dumplings known as kluski or try the aromatic duck dishes in Wielkopolska. But for a real range of regional dishes, it’s essential to visit the Podhale at the foot of the Tatra mountains. Here you can find anything from kwaśnica (sauerkraut soup) to placki po góralsku (potato pancakes with goulash).

Malta

Right off the southernmost tip of Italy, Malta understandably has plenty to offer in terms of gastronomic fare. A fine blend of influences from Italy, the North of Africa and the Eastern Mediterranean region, Maltese cuisine has a flavor like no other. As it is an island, the food here is mainly season-based and rustic along with classic seafood recipes and Maltese stew. The traditional Maltese qubbajt, a sweet treat made with almonds and honey is available in most local shops and stalls, while the delectable Maltese pastizzi are abundant in the seaside town of St. Julian’s, along with fresh seafood and sumptuous pasta.

Italian pizza is famous the world over

Italy

Home of pasta and pizza, it is no surprise that Italy makes its way onto this list. But these two specialties are just a drop in the ocean compared with the full range of gastronomic fare available in this beautiful country. Whether you prefer to dine in the finest Michelin-star restaurants or a family-run rustic café, there are so many options here that visitors can feel overwhelmed with choice. Each place has its own delicacies and specialties, which means that traveling around in Italy can be very hard on the waistline! Try the fabled spaghetti in Rome, before heading to Venice to gorge on tiramisu. Sample the world-famous Margherita in Naples or try lavarello at the jaw-droppingly beautiful Lake Como.

While there are some obvious choices on the list, there are certainly a few European countries that you might not have immediately thought of for incredible food. So, the next time you book holidays, ask your stomach to choose where you go first!

Sleep is incredibly important to me. I’m like a toddler – if I don’t get the sleep I need I just don’t function properly the next day. Lack of sleep makes me grumpy, I feel tired and my brain just doesn’t work as well. After 9pm my knees start to get twitchy and I’m really only staying up at this point because 9pm feels like too early a bedtime for a grown-up. Sometimes I sleep well, sometimes I thrash about having wild dreams, overheating or getting too cold. How to sleep better is a question never far from my mind.

When I moved house a couple of years ago I paid special attention to my bedroom. I decided the best way to sleep well would be to create a very tranquil, calm space that would be free from clutter and generally a chill place to sleep. It ended up being a bit like a minimalist hotel room, with just the bed and two side tables, (and the cats obviously), but I liked it. It definitely had the tranquil vibe I was looking for. It made me really appreciate how important it is in your bedroom to pay attention to details like temperature, lighting, colours and how to choose the best mattress and bed sheets.

If you always find yourself wondering how to sleep better then I’ve put together some tips for you to hopefully help you get a better night’s rest and not let lack of sleep spoil your days. View Post

Everyone loves a good meal. Better yet, everyone loves a delicious home-cooked meal. One common misconception is that many people believe that in order to make a great meal, one has to be an excellent cook. On the contrary, a good cook just needs their skills and a great set of cooking tools. Thanks to the advancement of kitchen tools each day, many of them can help you become a better cook instantly. However, many cooks swear by simplicity when it comes to choosing your cooking tools; it’s not a matter of the flashier, the better, but it’s a matter of what gets the job done efficiently.

We’ve gathered some of these tools that will help you become a better chef in your own kitchen:

A Cast-Iron Skillet

To this day, no skillet can match the art and beauty that the cast-iron skillet has to offer. It’s an essential tool in anyone’s kitchen. With proper care and maintenance, it can last a lifetime. It’s versatile, as it can be used stove-top or in your oven, and you can use it for any savory meal or even homemade desserts! Whether you’re baking a cake or you’re searing steak or chicken, this pan is perfect. It’s also known to spread heat evenly so your meals will be cooked thoroughly. You can get more information here when it comes to picking the right portable grill to be partnered with your versatile cast iron pan.

A Digital Thermometer

Cooking any kind of meat is rather tricky. You don’t want to overcook it and then your meat becomes dry, tasteless, and hard to eat, but you also don’t want to undercook it and get food poisoning. One of the best ways to make sure that you’re cooking your meat, turkeys, and poultry in a safe manner is by reading the reviews on how to get your own digital meat thermometers, which gives you an instant reading in a matter of seconds. Having a digital thermometer and knowing how to use it, you’ll be able to understand if your meat is ready to be consumed or not.

A Chef’s Knife

No chef is complete with a good, reliable, and very sharp knife. You will definitely need a high-quality knife that will help you with chopping and slicing. Make sure you invest in a really good one that will give you control over what you’re cutting, especially if it’s any kind of meat. Ideally, a chef’s knife would be around 8-9 inches. It will even do you good if you learn some foolproof cutting methods that will instantly turn you into a pro.

A Knife Sharpener

Consider all those pesky moments when you’re preparing dinner and you find that your favorite knife is too dull to cut anything. Your knives will go a long away if you invest in your own knife sharpener. This will enable you to have sharp knives at all times and you’ll be armed and ready to slice anything and cook a great meal!

An Instant Pot

Some meals take ages to cook, like meat for example. However, an instant pot is every cook’s dream of getting the meal done fast, right, and perfect! One of its greatest features is the pressure cooking technique which will cook your meat in no time. It’s also great for yogurts, rice, and anything you’d like to simmer, braise, steam, or slow cook. The difference is that it will get it done faster.

A Food Processor

This tabletop appliance is a life-saver! While having a blender might feel enough for you, we’re here to say that the food processor takes it to the next level! Not only will you blend your food to make smoothies, sauces or soup, but you can also slice and dice vegetables, fruit or you can grate them. You can also use it to make cake batter or dough.

A Stand Mixer

If you’re more of a baker, then you definitely need a good, sturdy stand mixer. This device will help you cut down your preparation time in half; you’ll be able to prepare something else while it does one job for you. You can knead dough, whip egg whites, and cream butter. It will be the perfect addition to any baker’s kitchen.

Measuring Tools

These items might be overlooked, but they’re quite essential. For starters, whether you’re a simple cook or an amateur baker, you need the right measuring cups and spoons to help you follow an exact recipe. You also need a digital kitchen scale to help weigh anything from meat to baking ingredients.

Whether you’re new to the cooking game or you’d like to go the extra mile, just know that there’s always room for improvement and becoming better. While you may not need to spend a ton of money on fancy gadgets, simple ones will do the trick. Consider the aforementioned items and you’ll be a better cook in no time!

Are you an established coin collector of UK coins? Do you collect worldwide coins or are you specialized in only UK coins? What are some of the things you need to know about coin collection in general? These are pertinent issues you need to be aware of so as to start your coin collection hobby or to improve upon it. It can be quite difficult for one to start a coin collection hobby without prior experience or knowledge. As such, one needs to research and read more about the hobby so that they can start at a point of knowledge. This is more so a hobby for people who love the study of coins, those who want to assemble coins as well as those people who love to collect rare coins. Regardless of the reason for your initial coin collection enthusiasm, there are a number of things you may not know about the collection of coins. You can visit https://costlycoins.co.uk/ to learn more.

Here are 3 things hobbyists may not know about the collection of UK coins:

  1. Your coins should be treated with lots of care

As a hobby coin collector you need to value what you do. Coin collectors need to treat the coins they collect with care. You want the coins to last as long as they can and maintain their color, hue and look. As such, you should not clean the coins too often as to destroy their shine and surface. This can potentially destroy their value and how they look. In this regard, it is advisable that one should consult an expert in this field to help them with advice on the right way of cleaning, the frequency of cleaning as well as what to use for the cleaning purpose. Whether you intend to monetize the coins or not, seeking professional help is always advisable to ensure your coins are valuable in the long term.

  1. Choose a specialization in coin collection

It is important that you develop a theme in the collection of your coins. You do not want to collect too many coins that are not related in any way. This may lead you to overestimate or underestimate their value. When you specialize in the kind of coins that you are collecting, you are in a better position to learn more about these coins and build a better, more organized portfolio of the coins. You could, for instance, decide to specialize in animal coins that you can store in a special album and get an official certificate of authenticity for them. Doing so will improve your credibilty in this type of coin collecting.

  1. Get your coins from  reliable sources

If you are considering your coin collection as a long term hobby, then it is only common knowledge that these coins should be sourced from reliable and authentic sources. This means that you can source your coins from Pobjoy Mint, Mint and manufacturers of legal coins. You can get these from the over ten manufacturers of British Overseas territories as well. love birds

If there is one thing that people want in their lives, it is to have somebody to love. It sounds cheesy but you can’t deny that most people look for it. Love has always been the subject of almost every single part of human existence. It is through this existential force that people find joy when finding and suffering if lost. According to this article, there are many definitions of this rather complicated concept but everybody agrees that it is a part of what we need for survival.

However, there are so many complications when it comes to finding love. For one, there are traditions that you cannot escape when it comes to starting a relationship. One of which is entering the dating scene. There was a time when people used this as a starting point for a continuous relationship. This “old-fashioned” way of thinking still works and exists up to this day.

On the other hand, we are now in a brand new decade. Dating sites have been the norm ever since the start of the 2010s. It was developed way earlier, but most people did not subscribe to it because the internet was not that massive back then. Now, people have access to this web of information right in their pockets. This is the reason why dating sites and apps now dominate the scene. There is still room for the traditional way of meeting people, but it is easier by just using your phone.

With this kind of culture emerging, there has been a demand for specific types of dating apps and sites. For example, there are sites now that offer membership for specific demographics. Others focus on similar interests and kinks. However, there is another type of dating app that has been very popular in recent years. You may know them as hookup apps. You might be thinking: Wait, hook up apps in 2020? Yep, they are not going for a long time.

The New Way of Dating

Hookup culture has been around ever since humans thought of sex as for something else other than procreation. It isn’t in the recent years that it has become a culture of its own, with rules and laws that you need to follow depending on the context and culture of the area. It can get quite complicated, but the Western world has different approaches when it comes to this. Now, the most popular way of meeting people is through the virtual world.

There are so many negative connotations that spring around this concept. For one, many believe that this bastardized the idea of love. Before, it was supposed to be this long process of meeting someone and getting to know them for a long time.

It is rather different these days as more people from the younger generation prefer hookups over relationships that can lead to marriage. There are a lot of factors that constitute this idea, but it is not inherently a bad thing. After all, there is nothing wrong with seeking consensual sex for pleasure and fun. However, you still need to be careful when it comes to these apps. Adults interested in casual dating can even find a one night stand site for instant hookups. The profiles are easy to set up, quick to use and users can even chat with potential matches before deciding if it’s a match made in heaven! Plus, there are no strings attached and both parties have realistic expectations.

Navigating the Virtual Dating World

Here are some things that you need to know if you are just starting in this virtual journey:

  1. Rejection happens all the time.

Don’t worry, it also happens in real-world scenarios. There will be a lot of reasons, and there is a part of you that will probably know beforehand that it is not going to work out. You might not be compatible in bed or outside of that. Personalities can clash all the time, and interests differ from one person or another. You can always meet someone new, and maybe that’s the time that it would click into place. Here’s how you can handle rejection properly: https://www.huffingtonpost.ca/entry/how-to-deal-with-rejection_ca_5cd537f6e4b07bc72975ea9b.

  1. Ghosting is also happening more and more.

However, there are some instances wherein your potential partner just disappears out of nowhere. They would stop messaging you and some would even end up blocking you on every social media. This phenomenon is referred to as ghosting, which pertains to the way ghosts also appear for a while and gone the next. It can be rather perplexing to experience this especially if you know that you have done nothing wrong. You can rethink everything that had happened, but that would be a waste of time. Instead, try to move on and work on something to improve yourself.

  1. Cheating is a normal occurrence.

We do not condone cheating as much as possible, but it is a phenomenon that happens even to the best of people. With these apps, it has even gotten easier since the anonymity that these websites provide is a feature that these types of people like. If you are not into this kind of situation, you must be honest with your partner to encourage his or her honesty as well. You can also try investigating especially if the relationship is starting to get serious.

  1. Honesty is (still and forever will be) the best policy.

If there is one thing that you need to take away from this article, it is this adage. This will always be relevant in the virtual dating world. There is nothing worse than being lied to after you have already invested something into the relationship. As mentioned before, the anonymity that the internet provides is a great feature. However, it is also one of the most abused ones since people take advantage of this feature all the time. As someone who is actively looking for a partner, you need to be honest with your intentions so that it will not affect yours later on.

  1. Seek out free apps.

Most of the websites and applications online that offer this kind of service usually come with a fee. If you want more functionality with your online experience, then join by all means. However, it is so much better if you can have it for free. Find someone new to flirt chat with, find a date, or simply see what’s out there – all for free! Fortunately, most dating sites do offer a “freemium” type of transaction with their clients. You can meet people online for free, but you need to pay to use more of the features. It can be a great way to start your online dating journey.

Another hidden cost you may have to deal with is allergies. Yes, your pet could develop an allergy, and it could be coming from the food you feed your pet. Some pets develop allergies to wheat, beef, rabbit, lamb, or even venison.

The problem is these ingredients could be in several pet foods out there, which could make it harder to buy food for your pet. You will have to figure out what is causing the allergic reaction, and you also have to buy special pet food that may cost more than you would normally pay.

Vet Emergency Costs

An emergency vet visit is a hidden cost you probably won’t expect. Most pet owners just hope their pets are going to be as healthy as can be and won’t really need emergency visits, but it may happen. The problem is you don’t know when this will happen, so even if you start preparing now, you won’t be ready if the emergency happens tomorrow.

There is no need to worry though. If your dog becomes injured and requires unexpected veterinary treatment, there are options that can help you manage the unexpected expense. If you don’t have enough savings to cover the costs, do some research on borrowing options like a payday loans online. Hopefully, after you deal with this emergency, you have time to build up your savings should another unexpected pet emergency arise in the future.

Apartments and Hotels

Sometimes, people tend to forget how costly a pet can be if you live in an apartment complex. For one, some landlords do not allow pets, and if they do, they usually require an additional deposit and possibly increased rent to keep your pet.

That is an expense you never had to deal with before. Those who decide to travel with their pet are going to be facing similar fees though this time it’ll be hotels telling you to pay extra to keep your pet. There is also the possibility that the hotel won’t even allow you to keep your pet.

Home-Related Damages

The last expense you may have to worry about is the damage your pet might cause at home. Pets can damage things in your home simply because they have claws or because they decide to bite something they shouldn’t.

Sometimes, the damage is simply because they urinated where they shouldn’t, and now it’s going to cost you a lot of money to have the carpet or your furniture cleaned. All of these damages are going to have to be addressed, and it’ll cost you some money. Of course, you could just make sure your pet is trained before you let him or her into your home, and that is an expense you might not have considered.

Try your best to address these issues head-on so that you can better prepare for these expenses. Owning a pet can be great as long as you take thought-out steps.

The cost of a meat box subscription would go around $150 per month, which allows you get meat from cage-free, grass-fed animals. A $150-meat box subscription per month would, more or less, include:

Moreover, since the animals are grown in local farms, they are raised free-range, meaning they are not cramped up in a limited space and fed with artificial grains to fatten them up. All thanks to the innovations and advancements brought about by research and development with regards to animal raising, organic and chemical-free growing of cattles, swines, and fowls have been made possible.

Furthermore, opting for an online meat box subscription allows you to provide healthy and better-tasting meat dishes for your loved ones.

Supports Local Farmers

By subscribing to a meat box delivery company, you’re also supporting the local farmers in one way or the other.

Normally, meat box companies get their supply of meat from local farmers as it is their mission to support sustainable, healthy, and organic meat production. By doing so, you are indirectly compensating the local farmers for all their efforts, such as ensuring the quality and safety of each and every meat that you consume.

Aside from that, you are widening the market that local farmers cater to, which, in turn, converts to more resources, thereby helping them sustain their jobs and their mission in general.

Conclusion

Technology has made everything easy for humans. Nowadays, everything can be done online, and buying your groceries is not an exception to that. Meat buying, which is normally done by visiting a butcher, grocery store, or a mall, can now be performed virtually. Using just your fingertips and your preferred electronic device, you can now order your meat box through the Internet, which definitely limits or replaces your trips to the butcher.

Along with that convenience, you’re also assured that the quality, freshness, and safety of the meat that you are receiving is not compromised. With a meat box subscription, preparing a mouth-watering meal for your family and loved ones is easier than ever.

do i need a termite inspection

So you are considering building your own home, adding an extension to your home or building a self contained studio for your rowdy teen? No doubt you are doing it to a budget and are looking at the options that give you the most bang for your buck. One thing you cannot scrimp on is a termite inspection. Termites, also known as ‘white ants’ are an extremely invasive timber pest that will wreak havoc in your home. Having a qualified pest control service conduct a termite inspection annually and by engaging builders who provide termite control systems in any new wooden builds will ensure that your home will not fall victim to these troublesome pests. These protective measures also have the potential to save you thousands in termite repair costs further down the line.

Small Pests, Big Damage

Termites are a serious problem which anyone building with wood needs to prepare and protect against. In Victoria, one third of unprotected homes will experience significant and costly damage caused by termite infestation. The estimated cost of both professional pest control, tradesmen and building materials to combat termite infestations in Australia is $1.5 billion annually. By ensuring that you have a termite inspection and termite prevention measures in place you can avoid the costly damage that these creatures can cause. The quotes for repair of termite damage can easily be upwards of $50,000 and to make matters worse most home insurance does not cover the cost of termite damage repairs.

So, what does termite damage look like? And why is it so costly? Termite infestation can often go unnoticed, as these pests destroy timber from the inside out. It might be time to book a termite inspection if you begin to notice fine borrow lines along skirting boards with weakening timber that seems to break away easily. Termites are attracted to damp areas, so keep an eye out for any changes in appearance to your gutters. If you begin to notice, fine dust residue accompanied by holes or cracks in your plaster, this could also be due to termites feasting away within your walls.

What to Expect from your Builder

When it comes to household pest infestations the aim is to prevent rather than have to cure, and termites are no exception to this rule. If you are building anything wood you must engage a builder who is termite management savvy, and will provide you with a termite protective build. Things that a builder can do to protect against termite infestation are: use treated timber and termite resistant woods, or build with steel wherever possible. There are also Australian standards that builders are to adhere to when providing termite management systems such as the Australian Standard 3660 on Termite Control.

If you do find yourself unlucky enough to have had a recent wooden build termite infestation and have found that your insurance does not cover the cost of damage then there is some recourse that you can find in Australian law. In court the builder you engage is seen as the professional-in-charge of overseeing the installation of a termite control system. As a homeowner you are entitled to assume, that your builder has properly protected your build from possible termite infestation. So, you can always take legal action against your builder if you are in this position, but we all know legal action can be costly. So, check with your builder that they will be using termite protective build methods.

For any wooden home owners or builders, annual termite inspections and installing termite control systems are a must. Protect your home and your family’s financial security with termite inspections.
