A couple of weeks ago I went to Paris! Fancy. It was the same trip where I went to the cemetery, and that old Parisian man made me chase around after him through the graves.
I wasn’t in Paris though just to rub the crotch of a dead man, I was primarily there to attend the E-Fluent International Conference. The E-Fluent conference has been running for five years now and is essentially a way for bloggers and brands in France to get together and learn more about each other. It’s hosted by French magazine Parole de Mamans and this year the conference became international. Groups of bloggers from all over the world attended, including me!
We stayed at the gorgeous Saint James Albany hotel and the structure of the trip was brilliant. Often on blog related trips abroad I end up having all of my time accounted for by blog related activities, with no time left to explore where I am. I can end up flying somewhere and flying back without getting any sense of the country.
With this trip though, Parole de Mamans had factored in plenty of time for us to get the full Paris experience, including a fabulous gala dinner on board a boat, cruising up the Seine. It doesn’t get much more Paris than that.
The main activity was an exhibition, where we got to meet a whole range of French and international brands. There was quite a focus on baby brands, but plenty of non baby related products to investigate too. I particularly loved this kids’ make up brand, Nailmatic.
I loved their funky packaging and, reading up about them afterwards, it turns out they are a pretty cool company. They even do make-up vending machines for grown-ups and children. It’s definitely worth reading more of their story.
Although the exhibition wasn’t massive, I actually quite liked that. I’ve been to lots of big shows at places like Excel in London, and it’s very easy to feel overwhelmed. With something that big, you really don’t know where to start and end up missing things. Not so at the E-Fluent Blogging Conference – it was just the right size to give you time to properly look around and chat to everyone.
I’m sure that now that Parole de Mamans has taken the conference international, that it’s only going to go from strength to strength. Maybe in a few years it actually will fill Excel!
Thank you so much to Parole de Mamans for inviting me and giving me the opportunity to find out more about the French blogosphere.
