You need to go to work, maintain interpersonal relationships, search for love, and manage your family issues. You deserve to have a therapist you can confide in about your particular issues. And there’s nothing wrong with seeking support. If you are worried that therapy is abnormal, it’s essential to ask yourself why you have those concerns. It could be that somebody told you going to therapy was abnormal or weird. This isn’t the truth, and it’s important to demystify therapy. Taking care of your mental health is just as important as your physical well-being. And therapy is a part of doing that. So if you are interested in seeing a therapist, it is a wonderful thing to pursue.
Counseling is your safe space.
Everyone wants to feel safe. It’s frightening when you’re experiencing thoughts that you can’t seem to control. Sometimes it’s hard to admit what you’re thinking. But, it’s freeing to let out your inner monologue. Everyone has thoughts they wish they didn’t have, but it’s not your fault. You didn’t choose to think about these concepts. A therapist won’t judge you for what you’re thinking. It can help them learn more about you. Whatever you speak about with a therapist, whether it’s online or in-person, it’s confidential. Your counselor is dedicated to protecting personal information and helping you with your unique challenges. You can feel free to tell your therapist about intrusive thoughts, upsetting dreams, or conflicts you’re having in relationships. A therapist creates a safe environment where you can feel confident about sharing your truth.
Motherhood is hard – it’s okay to talk about it
Moms have a difficult job. When you become a new mother, there’s no instruction manual. People can give you guidance on parenting, but it’s not gospel. You need to learn what type of parent you want to be and learn as you go. It helps to have people to talk about your struggles with because it makes you feel less alone. When you have parent friends, you can share your problems and get advice. It helps to have people who are learning to be parents just like you. If you’re a new mother, you might be shy to ask for help. Many moms who struggle with postpartum depression don’t reach out for help because they’re ashamed. Therapy and motherhood
There’s nothing wrong with you if you want to see a therapist. In fact, talking about your problems is cathartic.
