Post in association with Aquaclean
I think this could actually be the highest value item I’ve ever given away in a competition? Fancy.
Let’s take a look at the prize shall we, get ourselves in the mood. Here it is, the John Lewis Barbican 2 seater sofa in apple:
It looks pretty comfy doesn’t it? You just LOOK at it and you want a sit down.
I feel like if this was your sofa, your life would be full of family barbecues, weekend papers, succulents and Aperol spritz. An adorable toddler with blond pigtails would run at you and clamber up on your lap with a copy of The Gruffalo for you to read. You’d ask Alexa to turn down the acoustic folk music you were listening to and to switch on the reading lamp.
Your partner would come into the room and you and the toddler would both look up expectantly.
‘I was thinking of cooking a big curry and inviting Dan and Emily over,’ they’d say, ‘and can I top up your prosecco while I’m here?’
I’ve no idea who Dan and Emily are but I think they’d bring a bottle of artisinal gin that they’d picked up at a food festival recently and thought you might like.
*snaps self out of fantasy*
Where were we?
There are a lot of things that I like about this sofa.
Firstly, I love the design – it’s simple but has a bit of a mid-century edge to it with the curved corners and elegant wooden legs.
Second, I love the colour – the fabric is called ‘apple’, and I feel like this would fit pretty much anywhere. Although I do love bright colours – vibrant yellows and dark pinks – some key items, like your sofa, are often best in neutral colours so that you can swap and change colourful accessories depending on your mood or the time of year.
Last, but definitely not least, I love that it’s made with Aquaclean fabric. A lot of sofas offer the option to be treated with products that are meant to prevent stains, but Aquaclean is different.
Aquaclean is ‘made not sprayed’. Every thread is finely coated with a completely natural, unique technology which, the company says, means ‘nothing is impossible to remove, however long you leave it.’ Adding water coaxes the stain to the surface, so you can just wipe it clean.
Now that’s a BIG deal, especially when you have small children. Or even big children. (Belle eats a LOT of snacks on our sofa.) Or if Dan and Emily bring their two rescue dogs with them.
