My four favourite classic 1990′s dance tracks

I was listening to the radio in the car this week when a song came on that immediately took me back to being about 19 years old, getting ready to go for a night out in the throbbing heart of Bridgwater – The Palace nightclub. With my straighteners in one hand and a glass of Lambrini in the other, I was getting ready to take on the world.

It was this:

There are a few other classic 1990′s tunes that take me back to those heady days when I lived alone with Bee in small rented house that only cost me £300 a month and where buying pasta that didn’t come in pasta ‘n’ sauce form was considered a luxury.

RUN-DMC vs Jason Nevins is one of them:

N-Trance, Set You Free, is another:

And would the 1990′s really have been complete without Snap’s Rhythm is a Dancer?? This one always reminds me of Bridgwater fair, of all the cool kids hanging around the dodgems drinking cans of cider and wearing their hip-hop style baggy jeans while I walked around with my mum, trying to pretend I wasn’t.

What were your favourite songs from the 90′s?

“In the 90s” I was maximum 10 years old so what I listened to was TOTALLY different than my music choice now and I am kinda ashamed to admit all my crushes from back then! :) )

When I saw the title of this in your newsletter, the first song I thought of was Brimful of Asha. And then I come over here and find it’s top of your post! Spooky. Reminds me of a uni squash tour/tournament and the minibus journey down to Warwick uni for it.

And Run DMC v Jason Nevins. Brilliant, love that one.

Good old 90s dance songs. They were good!

  3. When I read posts like this one, it makes me feel ancient!

I was a proper cheesy quaver in the 90s, so many old skool toons reminds me of hands in the air, jumping up and down in a field somewhere, total, utter, beautiful freedom. Sweet Harmony by Liquid sums it up. Bit before your time I think…http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=podY8J447pc

Ah, N-Trance ‘Set you free’ what an awesome track. Takes me back to my youth and reminds me of dancing in dodgy nightclubs. Baby D ‘Let me be your fantasy’ is another good one I think…
