This is the second in my behind the scenes series and this week I’d like to introduce you to Lori. Lori writes the gorgeous blog Wild & Grizzly and has one of those workspaces that you think might only really exist on Instagram. You can see more from Lori on Twitter and Instagram.
One of the great things about freelancing is the flexibility that comes with your working day; you can choose when and where you work, as long as you hit your deadlines. I used to work form cafes, where I would eke out my lattes and hope no one would notice me draining their electricity supply. However I soon found I got distracted by the 20 something year old girls chatting about their upcoming holiday to Ibiza or young couples negotiating their relationship. So I decided it would be best to create my own working space at home.
What could be more fun then diving into the world of Pinterest for some home office inspiration! I love curating boards of ideas and planning what will work. Thankfully we have an oversized bedroom, which easily makes room for a desk to sit in our bay window overlooking the green spaces outside, bathed in natural light.
I wanted to choose a desk with flexibility so I opted for trestle legs with a table top that can tilt depending on what type of work I’m doing, and most importantly something with enough space to fill with things that inspire me. I try to use clever storage which hides my mess while looking good, so I can create a calm space. I love having my vintage style storage cases and magazines piled high for inspiration, as well as a notebook for jotting down ideas and scheduling projects. I couldn’t be without a supply of coffee and healthy snacks to keep me going throughout the day, plus a photo of my cutie to make me smile, as he is the whole reason for me doing this in the first place.
Not jealous of that workspace at all! (not) What a gorgeous view and love all those bits Lori has on her desk.
