My favourite things – May 2015

Well, just about, but there are a couple days left in May so just chance to squeeze in a four lovely things.

So, May, what’s the weather been doing? Surely it’s meant to be getting a bit warmer now? I have a festival to go to this weekend after all, and a tan to be worked on. OK, perhaps not the tan bit, I’m more of a burnt scalp sort of girl, but it would be nice at least to have the feeling that summer was going to be with us soon. I shall never be beach body ready, but I’d like to get into flip flops at least.

On the ‘getting ready for summer’ theme then…

May favourite things

For me, summer should be punctuated by at least one festival, ideally not knee deep in mud, but the sunny kind, where evenings can be spent wandering around in a pretty skirt, shirt and sandals, with the addition, as the sun goes down, of a nice fleece.

I’ve made two additions to my summer festival wardrobe so far, both from the sale at Saltrock; a checked shirt that makes me feel a bit like a fun lovin’ cowgirl, and a cosy hoodie that will be perfect for the aforementioned cool festival evenings. There are bargains galore there at the moment, so you should easily be able to refresh your festival wardrobe on a budget.

With my wardrobe getting a bit of attention it felt only fair to spend a bit of time on my hair and face too, so my second two products are from a new discovery – My Beauty Matches. When you first visit the site there’s a quiz – I love a quiz – all about your hair and skin type, your beauty concerns and preferneces, and then you get a whole selection of recommendations, all picked especially for you based on your answers.

I went for some Bobbi Brown loose powder and some Bumble and bumble thickening serum for my hair. I live in hope that one day I will discover a product that genuinely gives a bit of life to my otherwise lack lustre locks, and so I have high hopes for the serum. Watch this space, you never know! I love the packaging and smell of it regardless. The powder is great too – I generally prefer loose powders to foundations, especially in the summer, as they feel much nicer on my face. I really don’t like that feeling of smearing liquid foundation all over your face and then going out into hot sunshine.

That’s it for May!

I was sent these items to try out for the purposes of this review. All opinions are my own.
