My new house

We’re in!

First up, a massive cheer please to my crack moving team – my sister’s boyfriend Aaron and my brother James. Despite not being able to get to me until 3pm on Friday afternoon they had everything packed, moved to Somerset and emptied into the new house before 10pm, including our hour in the pub for pizza and cider – amazing work!

Now we’re here and settling into a routine of sorts, although it is most notable at the moment by its absence. The school I want Belle to go to, the one less than a mile away, is full, so we are having to appeal for a place. We have a hearing on July 15th, which realistically means she is probably going to be at home with me now until September. It’s tough balancing this with needing to work, but we’ll muddle through. I suspect that my idea of ‘home education’ will involve a lot of educational visits to Homesense. (Working out the cost of all the pretty new things I want is definitely maths.)

Not being one to enjoy being surrounded by boxes, I have cracked on and unpacked as fast as I can. I want to make the house our own as soon as possible, to make the fresh start as fresh and as positive as it can be. All this has been helped by the sunny weather and the fact that we have more than our fair share of windows for a house this size – it is much harder to feel sad or regretful when sunshine is streaming in.

Already I have a couple of favourite spots in the house, spots full of pretty things that I can look up at and smile and that make me feel happy to have moved.

These are they:

What are your favourite places in your house? How do they make you feel?

It looks like a lovely home already! I’d still be surrounded by boxes, pretending to have a fort, so kudos to you for cracking on!

I hope you enjoy your new home.
My favourite place in my home is my bedroom, it’s my sanctuary and a place that is always immaculately tidy.

It looks lovely – and very unlike our own box-filled house (we’re not moving – the landlord needs to do some renovations, deep joy…). Am gazing at your pretty photos and thinking ‘aaaaahhhhh….’

Looks lovely – I hope it hash;t been too stressful! We are renovating ours at the moment (bit different I know) and it is proving a bit testing! Grrr. With a toddler in tow as well… *sighs* lol xx

I love, love, love the staircase! Although after a few wines… Lol. I was still surrounded by boxes about six months later so you’ve done brilliantly!
My fave place at the mo is on my decking, my lovely hubby built me pallet furniture (in the post below) which really appealed to me, cheap and repurposed :-)
Wishing you and your girls happiness and lovely new memories in your new home xx

These are absolutely stunning. I would love your style in your house, it’s so my style too! Love it all. I have so many favorites in my house but then so many things I already want to change after a few years looking at them. I would love to redo my living room as it was the room I did quickly because we just moved in right before I gave birth to my first and I just wanted it done. I don’t know if it was the hormones or not but it is awful now. lol Love your white/cream cabinet with your wine glasses looks stunning. Always great to move house and have new space to call yours!
