The awesome Slummy single mummy Christmas giveaway

It’s here! My Win Christmas competition is here at last! Crack open the sloe gin and cherry liqueur chocolates and feast your festive eyes on the amazing array of prizes I have lined up for you.

Win Christmas

I really am very excited about this competition as I am a massive fan of Christmas. With a view to spreading the Christmas love I have been very busy over the last month getting dozens of companies on board and gathering prizes in what I now like to call ‘the Christmas room’. (Sorry Bee. It will be all gone by the time you come home for Christmas I promise.) It has been a wonderful way to get into the Christmas spirit without having to actually spend any money. Sure I don’t get to keep any of the prizes, but that’s OK, I’m just thrilled to be able to offer such a fab collection of goodies.

Every day for weeks now prizes have been arriving and they are all officially AWESOME. In the end I had so many generous donations – over £800 worth of food, drink and gifts – that I decided to split the giveaway into two prizes. First prize is worth around £500 and second prize approximately £300. Lots of the companies involved are small, independent retailers so please do take time to have a good look at the list and visit people’s websites – you’re sure to find inspiration here for Christmas shopping and passing on some new customers would be a fantastic way to say thank you to everyone for taking part.

So, I’ve rambled on long enough, I bet you want to see what I’ve got in my stockings don’t you?

*sniggers*

First prize

First prize – RRP over £500

Here’s what you could win:

Beautiful silver hummingbird earrings from Lily Charmed. I have a pair of their earrings (a teapot and teacup) and the quality is fantastic.

A Buzzing Brains Rockstar Keyboard and Stool for mini music lovers from Kiddicare.

A gorgeous scarf and pink clutch bag from independent fashion store The Dressing Room. The Dressing Room have run a competition with me before and are lovely people.

A bottle of home made sloe gin from Heavenly Hedgerows. I spent some time recently foraging with Chris, the lovely lady behind Heavenly Hedgerows, and can vouch for the tastiness of her gin. (You have to try these things in the name of research).

For a cosy Christmas morning you’ll get a voucher for a pair of kids’ pyjamas from Ava and Luc, so that you can pick your very favourite design.

A present for your favourite baby – a super cute pull-along puppy from Nel a Ned.

A selection a five fab children’s books from The Scottish Book Trust. I really wanted to keep ‘The Day The Crayons Quit’ for myself but Boyfriend said I wasn’t allowed but that he would buy it for me for Christmas instead. (Phew!)

Christmas table decorations including place mats, festive napkins and an angel chime from Rex London. I love the sound of an angel chime at Christmas.

A wooden phone charging stand from The Oak and Rope Company. (iPhone not included I’m afraid.)

One for the boys – organic cotton boxers and t-shirt from Cock & Bull menswear, ethically and sustainably produced in the UK.

Vanilla body scrub from Lulu and Boo – it smells so good you will want to eat it. Don’t.

What Christmas would be complete without cake? I’ve had lots of treats from Betty’s before and they have all been delicious – their jewelled cake is beautiful.

When you’re full of cake, mince pies and After Eights, you’ll need some Corkers Crisps to balance it out. (I like to believe it cancels out the calories.)

A treat for toddlers – a super silky soft reindeer towel from Cuddledry. I have worked with Cuddledry for years and have stroked many a towel. They are amazing.

A hamper! Oh yes, a hamper. Christmas has truly arrived. This hamper from Spicers of Hythe contains all sorts of treats from plum pudding to chocolate dipped shortbread.

I LOVE this cloud and raindrops mobile from Claireoncloud9 at Loubilou. The raindrops have just the cutest smiles.

And finally, very cute Monday – Sunday bamboo socks from Seasalt Clothing. Because everyone has to have socks for Christmas…

Win ChristmasSecond prize – RRP over £300

Second prize includes:

Lovely goodies from Neal’s Yard Remedies, including a very festive ginger and vanilla body lotion.

Funky shoelaces to spruce up your old trainers from Aces Laces.

A stylish hat and glove set from Joe Brown’s. I can quite imagine Nancy Drew solving a mystery in this hat.

A Tik Atak game from The Qool Club – something to keep everyone amused at the dinner table between courses.

Something for that special man in your life – a Paco Rabanne giftset from Fragrance Direct. It’s in a swanky gold box so must be good.

A splash of Christmas colour in the form of a gorgeous cushion from Little India Boutique. (I quite wanted to keep this too.)

A snuggly and stylish starry scarf from Mint Velvet. (I am wearing one of their jumpers as I type and absolutely love it.)

A baby blanket from Mini Wardrobe that’s so soft you’ll almost want to have another baby, just as an excuse to own one. Almost.

It really wouldn’t be Christmas without treats from M&S, so second prize includes some yummy wine and chocolates.

Wondering what to have for your Christmas breakfast? Forget about the Bucks Fizz, get some Lizi’s granola down your neck instead. I’ve been eating it all week (from my own bag) and it’s delicious.

A handbag from Barratts that can’t fail to make you the centre of attention at all your Christmas parties.

Tasty traditional meze from Pelagonia. Need I say more than YUM?

A beautiful girls’ dress from Rocket Muffin. I’m very sad that these don’t come in my size.

I’ve been told that local rapeseed oil from Bath Harvest is the oil of choice – this set includes two infused oils parcelled up in a lovely box.

When Christmas is over you can use your very last prize to capture your special festive memories – a voucher to create your own personalised photo book from 23 snaps!

The competition will run throughout November so that the winners will get their prizes in plenty of time for Christmas. I’ve tried to keep entry as simple as possible – I’m not a fan of competitions that offer a squillion different ways to enter every single day. Commenting on this post wins you three entries into the hat and there are a few other extra options, each worth one entry. If you’re feeling social, sharing the competition with friends can also win you bonus entries.

And that’s it! I really can’t wait to pick my winners!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Disclosure – each of the brands involved with this giveaway have donated these products free of charge. I haven’t charged anyone to take part or anything, I just wanted to be able to offer a really fantastic competition. Christmas spirit and all that.

  57. Lesley Sinclair
    1 November, 2013 / 10:24 am

My favourite thing about Christmas has to be on Christmas morning, after the kids have woken us up by jumping on the bed saying its Chriiiiistmassss, we all go downstairs in our pjs and take the kids to the kitchen to check if Santa and Rudolph have eaten their mince pie, milk and carrot, then we go to the livingroom and i love seeing their excited faces as they see all presents that Santa has left for them, while they are tearing open their presents there is usually a family film on in the background and the smell of the turkey as its beginning to cook. If it starts to snow aswell that is usually the icing on the cake for me. Makes all the stress and planning worthwhile. :)

I like a decorated Christmas tree with nice, homely decorations.

  91. 1 November, 2013 / 10:50 am

We love to do it very low key – we don’t do traditional dinner, but do a huge spread of Marks and Sparks finger foods/appetizers, our book tree, and doing crafts together (last year we did dough ornaments with the baby, now toddler). For us it’s a day to be thankful for what we have, and who we have in our lives. :)

Love Christmas as it is an excuse to relax with your family and friends, buy presents, eat lovely food, have a tree in your house, longs dogs walks, house filled with spiced smells, excuse to drink sherry (love it) and 11 ‘o’ clock in the morning then again at 3pm if you fancy! Oh and Christmas stockings love to fill them (um I mean santa does) and love to open them!

I think my favourite thing about Christmas is Christmas Eve, the excitement of my little granddaughter, preparing the Christmas Dinner, seeing all the presents wrapped under the tree and me curled up sipping a glass of Baileys by the warm fire.

What fabulous prizes. For me the best moments at Christmas are the small moments when I take time out from battling through the shopping crowds, sweating in the kitchen and deliberating over table setting. Sitting by the tree with a glass of something, wrapping presses and listening to Nat King Cole. Watching the children’s nativity shows with a tear in my eye. Sharing their excitement with bleary eyes whilst they tear open their presents as the sun rises on Christmas morning. Cuddling up on the sofa with my daughter watching another cheesy Channel 5 Christmas movie. A sneaky cuddle with my” merry” husband under the mistletoe. It’s so important to make time for these precious moments before it’s all over for another year.

My favourite thing about christmas is actually the run up to it – the magical chill in the air, the crisp pared down look of nature’s pallette, the naughty hot chocolates topped with cream and mini marshmallows consumed whilst sitting under the softest blankie with the best people in the world whilst watching home alone and a slew of other corny christmas movies, the smell of all the wonderful foods at the local German market, the twinkling of happy eyes in twinkling lights, the dreams of the new year and the promise that for a couple of days everyone will gather together and just shut the world out. I love so much about it, it’s too hard to pin down everything but these are some of my favourites :-)

  164. 1 November, 2013 / 1:14 pm

I think it has to be the feeling…. I spend all of December feeling like I’ve been plugged into the electrics. I feel more alive – like having spider senses but in a nice girl kind of way rather than a cobwebby way. I tingle with anticipation of how much happiness you can spread, how much lovely food you can make and how much fun and laughter you can share. It feels like living in a snowstorm (well, I imagine it does!). Just when you get settled, you get all shook up again and the glitter flows all around you! :) x (oh, and thank you very much for all your hard work getting such brilliant prizes together. There is nothing I dislike about Christmas. Right from the time that we see the first Christmassy things in the shops and the first advert on tv, the magic begins for us. A particular favourite of ours is choosing the Christmas tree. We all enjoy the build up to Christmas so much that we always have our tree up by 1st December. It is such a special time when we go to the tree farm and pick one we all agree is perfect for our Christmas. To be able to enjoy it even more with some of these fabulous prizes would be absolutely amazing for our whole family. Thank you for running such a fantastic competition!!

My favourite part of Christmas is Christmas Eve. I love the feeling of anticipation and excitement that builds all day. We always read The Night Before Christmas together, the kids get new pyjamas and then they head to bed to wait for Father Christmas! It’s such an exciting day!

To be honest, the best thing about Christmas is the build-up.
The cinnamon & spice scented candles flickering, the Christmas tunes such as; “The fairytale of New York” gently simmering from the TV, the kids getting excited writing their letters to Santa.
Me panicking to get everything done in time.

    I love it!

I love Christmas, and seeing all my family together. We all live around the UK, this is the time of year we all get to see each other. Nice watching all the cousins play together.

  271. 1 November, 2013 / 5:52 pm

I like to pretend i’m not overly fussed by Christmas and grumble about Christmas stock being in the shops in September, but secretly I love it! I think having a child is just an excuse to enjoy it even more….I like to say it’s because I can see the fun of Christmas through a child’s eyes, but really it’s just as exciting through my eyes!

I love the excitement and build up, people generally trying to be more cheerful, helpful and giving and of course to excuse to see your friends and family, eat ridiculous amounts of food and make a list of all the things you want. Oh and of course thinking about all the lovely things to make or buy your loved ones…

My favourite thing about Christmas is boxing day… we always go over to the same family friend’s house. They have a big kitchen and we all sit around comparing what we did on Christmas day, what gifts we received and gave, binge on leftover food (cold turkey, bubble and squeak, salad to make ourselves feel slightly less guilty!), drink all the half-empty bottles of wine, watch any DVDs we got as gifts or anything particularly good on the telly, walk the dogs, fall asleep at about 5pm in front of the fire. It is the best part of Christmas and for me the part I look forward to the most!

Fave thing about Christmas is the kids faces when they realise Santa’s been ;)

  371. 2 November, 2013 / 10:28 am

The best thing about Christmas for me is the preparation. Not necessarily buying and wrapping, which is always fab – but the internal home decorations with the joy I capture from my children (Even my hormonal teenage daughter manages to revert back to an innocent 7 year old) when the stereo rings out her favourite Christmas tunes. Seeing the lights, visiting shops full of delights – Christmas markets.. It is by far my favourite time of year. Even the darkness that ebbs each evening is a reminder of all the times I had as a child, and it cant just be me who can smell the difference in the air! Ahh :) Bliss

i love going to bed on christmas eve knowing how excited the children are, knowing what ‘santa’ has got them and knowing how happy they are going to be tomorrow, i love laying there working out the timeings for dinner and planning which desserts i will be dishing up. i love waiting for the knock on the door being asked can we get up
yet…and best of all i love when i tell them all its time and we can go down stairs and see what ‘santa’ has left them! it feels magical! x

Giving presents, I love finding the prefect gift for someone, wrapping it and where possible seeing it being opened. I can’t sleep Christmas eve, I make my partner open at least one of his just after midnight, then its the pets turn. Next comes the phone call from his daughter to say they are awake and its over there for an early morning unwrapping session with his grandkids, then to my cousins to see what her 2 have got. Next his other daughter and the phone call from his step daughters 2 girls to tell us what they got from Santa. Then it really starts, off to mums, where my brother and sister are there with their 2 little princesses. Christmas Dinner followed by a big opening session then a walk up the moor with all the dogs and kids. Then back to look at all the presents again, try to remember who sent what and play time with the younger ones. Getting really excited just writing this.

Every year the Round Table come around the houses at night with Santa in his sleigh collecting for charity. Its so atmospheric with all the Christmas Music and the way the sleigh is lit. Santa always makes sure he does a special wave to everyone who comes out of there house to watch. It makes me feel like I am little again and always brings a tear to my eyes.

I love getting ready for Christmas – making things, finding the best unique presents and wrapping with a theme (this year brown paper decorated by me/children & personalised for each recipient) and then shutting the door for a few days, escaping from the world, taking my watch off and living for board games and festive food! Oh….and decorating the tree & kitchen!

I love decorating the house and putting the Christmas tree up, I love seeing the sheer amazement and joy on my children’s faces when they see Santa, tracking Santa on Christmas Eve and the children’s increasing excitement as Santa gets closer and closer, then Christmas Day itself is always fabulous. All the family come together, the children’s excitement and joy opening their presents when they realise Santa has been!

Decs up 1st December… stockings before Church on Christmas Day and then only one present before lunch… Looking forward to when my children will enjoy a full Christmas lunch, but still a way off on the brussel sprouts.

I love Christmas and as a single parent I love the time with my daughter. The preparation and seeing everyone’s Christmas decorations going up is great. To see the pile of presents under the trees and then Christmas Day with a big dinner with extended family. This is a great prize and would make a fabulous Christmas

Wow what an amazing set of prizes!

My favourite thing about Christmas is being able to spend it with the people I love. We all work so hard throughout the year but make sure we can all see each other at Christmas Time. Also we may have a special guest this year if bump arrives early – Christmas is a week before his due date,

How can I pick one thing, I love the atmosphere, the songs, the food, the great humour and the time off work to name just a few!

  778. 20 November, 2013 / 9:32 am

My favourite part of christmas has to be sending the kids out on a dadventure while I wrap the last-minute presents and place them strategically so that they can be put under the tree without too much late-night rustling. That and the different approaches to present opening – I have one who rips everything open and then looks at them later, and one who carefully opens each one and plays with it before moving on.

What a fabulous selection of prizes, and some super gift ideas for everyone who doesn’t win.

I love it when the kids hurry downstairs to see if Santa has been. They like to look at the snowy footprints that he leaves in our garden, which take my husband ages. One year he was doing it so late that he made a mistake, the front reindeer had 6 hoof prints!! Luckily the kids didn’t notice

I love everything about Christmas – the noise, the music, smell of a real tree, too much tinsel, far too much eating and drinking, thinking chocolate for breakfast is OK..so long as you wash it down with a glass of something!!

My favourite thing about Christmas has to be the contrast between angelic carols sung by little choir boys and the madness of Pop classics at the Christmas party played on full blast. Both essential Christmas music

My fave thing about Christmas is going back “HOME” with Hubby to my parents house 80 miles away on Christmas eve, we all sit about watching Christmas movies, drinking cuppas and eating sweeties then on Christmas morning I get up early and go into my brothers room then my sisters and wake them up and give them their pressies i’ve done this since I was about 15 and we are all grown up now but I still do it ( even though they probably wish I’d let them sleep in but iv’e a no sleeping in on Christmas day rule)! Little family tradition. (i’m so excited about this year as this is my first year as a mummy ahhh! Can’t wait) Fab prizes xx

Oops pressed too soon. One of my fav Christmas things is to drag in our tired living Christmas tree. It’s usually damp and dull – so we love the challenge of making it look good.

I love everything about Christmas. I Love walking round the shops buying gifts for people hearing all the christmas songs. Putting up the Christmas tree with my partner and his family and all putting a decoration on each :) I love the excitement on Christmas eve when we all sit down together to watch the snowman on tv and nana reads the night before Christmas :) then waking up on Christmas day to everyone being so excited and seeing all the family and eating too much lovely food. The extra exciting part this year is that I’m expecting so he could come early and experience it all this year lol :)

Christmas is a magical time when all the family come together. Christmas tree sparkling with lights and decorations. To win this prize would put the icing on the cake or the fairy on top of the tree
