Weight Watchers has just launched its new season diet campaign, Together is Better. The idea behind that campaign is that losing weight is easier if you have the support of a friend, someone to share the journey with.
I can totally empathise with this logic.
As you’ll have seen if you follow me on any social channels, I have recently taken up running. I’ve been doing it for four whole weeks now and am very pleased with myself. I call it running, but it feels a bit more like ricocheting off the pavement at the moment – sort of stumbling from one foot to the other. However, I can feel I am making progress. When I first started nearly a month ago, running for one minute without feeling like my head was going to explode was difficult – now I can do three minutes non-stop. Baby steps and all that. (Quite literally in this case.)
I have not missed a single session yet and have even gone in the rain. Look impressed.
One of the things that has kept me going has been meeting up with a couple of friends on Saturday mornings for the third run of each week. This helps me in two ways. Firstly it means the session goes more quickly, you have people to talk to and motivate you, and you have to go because you can’t be the person that chickens out. (It also means I’m forced to deviate from my strategically planned downhill route and tackle some slopes.) Secondly it keeps me going during the week as well because I need to know I can do it on Saturday – I need to know that I won’t be the one left behind, having to be helped to the nearest low wall for a little sit down.
This is exactly the kind of support that Weight Watchers are encouraging slimmers to look for in a friend – someone who will motivate you and inspire you, even when all you really want to do is go to bed with a party size gateaux.
To kick the campaign off, Weight Watchers are holding a fantastic competition to win a fridge makeover for you and a friend. The lucky winners will be rewarded with two brand new state-of-the-art fridges, as well as a whole host of food guru support, supermarket vouchers and hampers full of goodies! Entering is simply a matter of submitting your email address through the Weight Watchers Facebook page. (There is a mobile link too.)

Have you ever teamed up with a friend to lose weight or get fit? Did it make a difference to you?
fantastic giveaway :)
I did WW with a friend after having Alex – very motivating knowing we were going to see each other at the meetings. We also met up for walks with the babies in slings and (skinny) coffees. Much easier with support. On which note… I need to get back on the wagon!!
Being a girl to be fit always is dream of everyone but few ones are serious for it. When I am going through your blog I found that it is really inspirational for everyone who are planning to start work out. I like your blog and determinations towards your commitment with workout and loosing the weight. Keep it up and Thanks for sharing with us.
