WIN £100 to spend at Tesco with new Aromettes

Having calmed down from my fury of Thursday night, and after agreeing to balance the crafts and foot rubs with a workshop on women in the media, I’ve got a quick weekend competition for you. Just to lighten the mood. I’m going to be quick though, as Take Me Out has just started. (Seriously, how great is Take Me Out?? No likey, no lighty…)

Here’s the deal…

Aromettes are a new coffee thing from Douwe Egberts. It’s like ordinary ground coffee, but pressed into single serving bean shapes. Not only does the process apparently lock in the flavour, but they also look very cute in a glass jar.

I’ve tried some, and they were pretty nice. You can get them exclusively in Tesco from Monday if you want some of your own.

But here’s the best bit. If you quite fancy some, but are a bit of a cheapskate and normally stick to Asda’s own instant granules, you are in for a treat. I’ve got £100 of vouchers for Tesco Direct to giveaway! £100 whole English pounds. You could buy loads of tubs of Aromettes with that. Except you don’t need to, because the winner gets their own tub too – bonus!

To enter, all you have to do is comment on this post, telling me why you need coffee more than anyone else. That’s literally ALL you have to do. I’d ask you to sign up for email blog updates and tweet this post, but you’re bound to do that anyway, so there’s really no point.

Leave your comment before Friday, when I will pick a winner at random.

Good luck!

I have 11 kids here tonight for birthday sleepover. Will they sleep? Will I need coffee tomorrow to get me through the day?

  6. 12 February, 2011 / 8:55 pm

As a sleep deprived single mum trying to work out how to juggle bringing up 2 kids and make money I need caffeine to function through my day ;-)

My poor husband needs to win some coffee. I hate the stuff, especially the smell, and so I never buy it for him.

What he needs is for some lovely lady to send him some :)

I need coffee to keep me going through the day and especially if I manage to escape for a bit for a coffee with my mum :)

  11. 12 February, 2011 / 9:12 pm

I need coffee because I have barely slept in weeks! I have a toddler who is on the go for up to 15 hours a day – and so without it, you would find me asleep in her cot, or under the table…propped against the wall- you get the idea! As I type, said toddler is banging on her baby gate, and I am trying to ignore her so I can catch up with emails, and plan the finances/grocery shop/activities for tomorrow.

You wouldn’t believe how much concealer I need under my eyes at the moment. I think emulsion paint would probably do the trick. Then again the constant yawning probably is just as bad as the huge black eyes!

I’ve just gone back up and put her to bed, kissed her, and whispered ‘goodnight’. She’s not got back up, so I’m hoping I can chill for the rest of the evening – well, do the housework, write a blog post, and try to remember to eat something.

    Zzzzzzzzz coffee anyone?

WAIT A MINUTE WAIT A MINUTE

This is like the Inflatable Ladybird review all over again.

Is this GROUND or INSTANT? Please clarify.

    • 13 February, 2011 / 9:36 am

Sorry, I was distracted by the young boy doing parkour on Take Me Out…

It is GROUND (which I’m pretty sure I mentioned) and as you can see from the picture, suitable for all coffee makers. Honestly. Some people are so fussy. It’s basically ordinary coffee that you would chuck in a cafetiere, but in a lump.

    12 February, 2011 / 9:13 pm

Also they look a bit like cute brown vulvas in the picture. Is that an accurate description?

    • 13 February, 2011 / 9:34 am

God it’s all about the vulvas with you isn’t it?

      *examines tiny vulvas in jar*

I guess so, a little bit, but smaller. They taste different though.

  15. 12 February, 2011 / 9:36 pm

I am on week five of broken sleep. My 4 year old is having a laugh with her mind tricks, tantrums, faffing, emotional blackmail etc etc

Quite simply I am on shit grumpy nightmare form and running on coffee alone. Fancy new coffee would be most welcome.

Did Lisbeth just say vulvas? I think she should win just for sheer creativity in getting that word into a post about coffee.

I NEED coffee because I live in a madhouse. I have one four children -PLUS throw chuck one disabled child, a pair of twins and a preteen girl into that mix! Oh, and a grumpy hubby!

I’ve still not caught up from my sleep yet – took the preteen to her first concert Fri night, got totally lost driving home, then when I DID get on the right road, few hundred yards down it was closed and I got lost all over again!

This morning the autistic one and the grumpy twin have had a almighty fight over the remote control, and the oldest two are due at church parade by 10.30.

I’m on my second cup of coffee, I reckon by the fourth or fifth I might be ready to hit the shower! :-D

There was a young(ish) woman who lived in a shoe
    She had so many children she didn’t know what to do;
She gave them some milk, and a biscuit or two
Then whipped up a coffee after putting them to bed

Then to the washing, the ironing and cleaning
    and soon the house was clean and gleaming;
The coffee helped me on my way

Coffee is my best friend, it wakes me up in the morning, helps me to feel energetic and lively during the day and relaxs me during the evenings.

To wake me up, to keep me going with my two gorgeous and very character building little boys, to enable me to put up with my husband (having both been made redundant we’re at home 24/7 and I do think there is a little bit of truth in the rumour that absence makes the heart grow fonder!), to try and sort out the mess that social services have made of my elderly mum’s life after she was found in their care with a broken hip and now will never be able to walk again, to try and preserve my sanity as I have regular biopsies for carcinoma in situ and now, just to throw sometihng else into the mix, 6 lumps have been discovered in one of my breasts and 1 in the otheer!!!!! So, coffee would just help me along the way as I try to keep up with lifes challenges.

Just to help me along – you don’t have to live with my wife – she’s lovely – but generally she’s a bit lively (not like that) and colourful – never a dull moment kind of girl.

I need coffee more than anyone else cos me and my hubby have run out and we’ve been reduced to drinking the moldering fruit teas from the back of the cupboard that even Ray Mears wouldn’t touch. I fear for our sanity come the morning…

  234. 16 February, 2011 / 10:41 pm

I need coffee so I can watch the entire series of Twin Peaks in one sitting. Make that a black coffee. With cherry pie!

I need coffee in my life
    Although I drink too much
I like it dark and rich
And not too sweet as such

    I find so yummy

    A grumpy mummy!

I need coffee more than anyone else to keep up with 5 extremely witty and smart children, this comes with a driving schedule that would put any taxi driver to shame, a handsome sharp hubby that I dearly love to spend time with after the kids go to bed and 2 husky dogs that need loads of long walks. My coffee’s help the day go with a swing and keeps me enthusiastic about everything I do.

It was supposed to be my new year’s resolution to stop drinking coffee, then my belated new year’s resolution was to cut down. I failed miserably. Coffee absolutely keeps me going. If I don’t have a cuppa, I don’t function and I get cold-turkey headaches, which puts me in a vile mood. Coffee for me is essential for me to be the person I am – that’s how badly I need coffee!!

I need coffee because without it – I would go back to bed, put the duvet over my head and let kids/partner/work/the boss …. fend for themselves!

  250. 17 February, 2011 / 5:38 pm

Because my 2 year old kept me up till after 1 am – then a cat broke into my house (only wish i was joking) then my 4 year old threw tantrums at 4 am.

    I am a grump…

I need coffee to give me the energy to cope with a 5 year old who insists on dressing herself and consequently looks like a cross between Su pollard and Helena Bonham Carter, a toddler who has decided she is a cat and wants her meals served in the cat’s bowl (thankfully she has yet to poo on the neighbour’s begonias, but I’m sure that will come) and a 13 year old who speaks in a dialect of indistinct grunts and can only make meaningful eye contact with a Nintendo DS.

You can certainly see your enthusiasm in the work you write. The arena hopes for more passionate writers such as you who aren’t afraid to mention how they believe. All the time go after your heart.
