I’m Jo and I’m a mummy blogger and work-at-home mother to two gorgeous, spirited girls. Bee is 17 and Belle is 10. Bee was born when I was 17, and by 19 I was a single parent for the first time.
I became a single mum for the second time in 2008. It was hard work, harder than at 19, but I managed to juggle family, work and home commitments by pretending I don’t notice how dirty the house was.
I’m not just the writer of probably the best mummy blog in this postal code area, I’m also a freelance marketing and social media consultant, copywriter and journalist, specialising in parenting, breastfeeding and issues affecting women. I am available for any kind of work involving marketing, research, features, comment and commercial copywriting.
I am basically a word whore.
I am always happy to hear from brands about products, events and projects relevant to me and my family. We live in Bristol, but can travel to London if it’s something exciting!

Hi Jo,
I love reading your blog. its a lovely reminder that I am not the only one who is split between loving being a parent and wantingto be selfish and have some time to myself 9which very rarely happens).
Keep up the good work – I look forward to reading more in 2010
)
Thank you Sharon, I’m glad it struck a chord with you – it is so hard to get that balance isn’t it? Just how much TV IS it ok to let the kids watch while you blog?? Who knows…
Hi Jo,
love your blog can’t beleive you are a single mother, can only be by choice as you are pretty scrummy. Love your style of writing and you have some great posts. Keep it up.

Hi Jo, and I thought you were going to help with the ironing mountain
haha
Nobody ever describes me as “scrummy”, lol
Hello Jo, I really, really like your blog. It’s refreshingly honest and it makes me laugh. Would you be okay with me adding a link to your blog on my home page?

You would be a great contender – a single mum who can write well and looks natural……..
Let me know your thoughts.
Hi Jo…I just wanted to echo the comments you’ve already had, being an expectant mummy (my bump is due anyday) I love your writing style, and will definately be checking in more often, your humerous approach to what I’m sure can be tough at times is an inspiration, especially to someone like me who has no idea what to expect from motherhood!!
Ps. I have just clicked through to the competition mentioned in your previous comment from Roz Chandler, I must say it sounds like a great opportunity…it says you can win a package worth up to £50,000 and I agree with Roz that you would stand a great chance! You go girl!!!!
Thank you! I’m gald you’re enjoying it, and hope you manage to find a spare minute to keep reading once the baby is born – good luck with being a mum
Wow – it’s an amazing looking prize! You’ve got so many great entrants already with loads of votes though – I’m not sure I have enough friends

Thank you! I think perhaps I need to let people recover from the MAD blog awards before I start begging for votes for something else
al bless ya, well if you change your mind the closing date is 3rd sep so let me know the name you put yourself under and ill log on and vote for ya, good luck
Is that actually you in the big photo on your blog? If it is, you’re gorgeous!

Ah! Thank you
Yes it is me, but with a lot of make-up and bright lights…
Very impressive.
I just do facebook I don’t do Twitter because all I can handle is 1 outlet I do not have the time to be working to many .People and keeping up with more than 1 and facebook is my choice of reaching out to others . I will post things from other sites but that is all.
Hi Jo just changed my email and re-subscribed to blog Hope all is well with you , and requested face book too
Hi, have recently become a mum myself and have really enjoyed what I’ve read so far! Thank you!
Hi Jo, have just started to follow you on Twitter, a, a new blogger. Your blog is great love reading your posts! Emily xx
Thanks Emily
HiH
Interesting blog and a perfect way of comunication, I wil keep having a look often, greetings from spain
Ooh have just read your ‘online mummy network’ article in my local NCT newsletter. Small world
Yay! Good to know my name is getting about – I hope you enjoyed it
I guess it’s reassuring to read about other people who’ve found online fun and a way to meet people and make opportunities. I’m not much of a tweeter in terms of building relationships there, but just don’t have time with full time job, 2 repping sidelines, and toddler as well as my blog and catching up with my online friends groups. So much to do, so little time for mums these days!
The first thing I notice was your age. I realized I’ll be 33 3/4 in about two weeks.
*whispers*
I am actually 34 now… don’t tell anyone… I just wanted to be like Adrian Mole…
I won’t tell
I assumed it wasn’t a running count. And yes, Adrian Mole rocks.
Hi! My name is Sue, and I’m from SlimKicker, a fitness/diet app and online website. I bumped into your blog today and it captured my interest!
I’m contacting you b/c we’re about to release a fitness tracker (similar to FitBit) early next year, and are looking for bloggers who would be interested in receiving 1 for free to review when it is out (negative or positive).
Would you be interested in doing this? You can email me at: sue (at) slimkicker (com) with ‘Review’ in the email heading if you are.
In case you don’t know, our online website SlimKicker basically turns your fitness/diet goals into a level up game. The tracker will work with the website, and allow people to track calories burned and number of steps they walk automatically. The more they exercise, the more points they rack up! That’s basically how it will work.
Anyway, hope to hear back either way…
- Sue
