I’ve been doing a lot of Christmas shopping this week, and by Christmas shopping I mean ‘looking at websites I like and buying myself treats with a few token gifts thrown in.’ To be honest I didn’t even bother throwing in the token gifts when I was shopping at Bookblock, I literally just bought myself six cocktail miniatures.
I was so taken with the Bookblock website, which sells all manner of delightful food and drink bits and gifts and really would be perfect for genuine Christmas shopping, that I got in touch and asked them if they’d like to do a little Instagram giveaway with me.
‘Sure!’ they said. ‘Let’s give away one of these Christmas cocktail sets!’
Fantastic. I got the competition up on Instagram. Here’s what I wrote…
…
DRINKS GIVEAWAY!! Christmas tipples are on me!
Not ALL of them I hasten to add, but this delightful Christmas cocktail trio from Bookblock at least. Oh and just for one of you. And Bookblock are donating the prize… Okay okay I’m doing basically nothing, but that’s the Christmas vibe right there isn’t it? Cheers!
Seriously, if you’d like the chance to win this absolute delight of a Christmas treat in the form of three delicious festive fuelled cocktails – a Buck’s Fizz, an eggnog and a hot toddy – then here’s what you have to do…
…
Etc etc, how to enter, terms and conditions, job done. People started entering – they were rightly excited.
A few hours later though I had a message from Instagram to tell me they had deleted my post because it went against their community guidelines. I appealed but they were adamant that I was breaking the rules.
This is what they said:
I’m not sure what exactly in my post had given the impression that I was trading in animal parts or trying to set up an illegal drug cartel but there you go, Instagram is God, the post was gone.
I felt sad about it, and bad for all the people who had entered already and so, like a group of drunk, middle-aged women from a book club who have been kicked out of McDonald’s for insisting the staff call them ‘women’ and not ‘ladies’, (HYPOTHETICALLY), I decided to take my business elsewhere and so here we are, trying again.
The Bookblock Christmas cocktail set really is lovely. It’s just a little something I know, but I can say from experience that it’s a very nice feeling knowing that some cocktails are on their way to you in the post.
To enter, just complete as many of the entry mechanisms in the widget below as you fancy. The more you do the higher your chances of winning. The competition will close at 11.59pm on December 5th and a winner will be chosen at random and sent their prize in time to enjoy it whilst wrapping presents on the floor next to the Christmas tree and watching Love Actually. UK and over 18s only, full T&Cs apply.
Good luck and happy nearly Christmas!
Entered again after entering on Instagram originally! What a shame about your Insta post, their rules are bizarre at times. Lovely giveaway
Ah, the joys of Facebook related platforms!!
I am going to have to try this out!
