Do you remember a few months ago me banging on at you to vote for me in the MAD blog awards? Well last night, after months of nervous nail-biting, I travelled to the surprisingly funky Butlins in drizzly Bognor Regis for the awards ceremony.
And guess who won the award for ‘Best New Blog’?
Me!
Hoorah!
Unfortunately, not expecting to win, by the time I had to stagger up to garble my thanks, I had rather taken advantage of the free Pimms and wine, and wasn’t quite my usual eloquent self. All I could think was that I wanted to mention Brian, my number one fan, for his unwavering support and thoughtful comments. So you got your very own mention Brian!
After my sister pointed out on the phone this afternoon that I should perhaps have thanked Bee and Belle for so often being the inspiration for my blog, I thought I would take this opportunity to say some extra, sober thank yous.
So…
Thank you to Sally Whittle for organising a fantastic evening and to Butlins for putting up with our raucous behaviour.
Thank you to the lovely Pete – the Butlins boy who kept my glass full at all times.
Thank you to Shannon at Everyday Stranger, who I was lucky enough to sit next to at dinner. Not only was Shannon brilliant company, she also looked gorgeous in a very swanky yellow dress.
Thank you to the man in the pub after the award ceremony who didn’t tell me off for stealing modelling balloons from behind the bar and hiding them in my bra, but instead went and found me a pump so I could model everyone amazing, slightly phallic hats.
Thank you to Emma at Me, The Man & The Baby, for being fabulous and funny and for being there to make sure I wasn’t the only one drinking shots at the bar.
Thank you to Carol at New Mummy for making sure I got to bed safely, without molesting too many young boys, for telling me when it was morning and bringing me a cup of tea in bed.
Thank you to all the lovely mummies and daddies at the party, who are ALL brilliant, and made the night such fun.
But of course, the biggest thanks go to you – everyone who reads and enjoys my blog, leaves lovely, thoughtful comments, and who took the trouble to vote for me.
Thanks!
I promise not to forget you now I am incredibly famous.
You go girl!! You deserve it. You didn’t cry like Gwynnie Paltrow did you or can you frankly not remember?
LOL!
Honestly? I can’t remember much after the complimentary Pimms…
Hurrah, hurrah, hurrah for you, Jo! You SO deserve it … and I’m glad the rest of the world recognizes it!
Yay! Thank you Jane :-)
Emma really is a good drinking partner! It is even better when she is your roommate and she is laughing (well as hard as a hung over person can laugh) at your even WORSE hangover.
I wish there was a ‘like’ button for this comment!!
Also that comment is from me, Kat, at 3 Bedroom Bungalow…forgot to log out of my other blog acct.
Well done, Jo – thoroughly well deserved. Consistently well written, honest and funny.
(I am obviously filling molotov #87 and heading straight round to Butlins to give some payback. Yes indeedy.)
You were robbed, robbed I tell you. Maybe it was the remarks you made in your blog about Butlins??
Yay!
Yaaay for winning! It was a fantastic night!! I do seriously think that you should look into becomming a redcoat.. those things you did with the balloons….! I cannot wait to see what photos & videos surface over the next couple of days!! Thank you for being a fab friend and a great laugh!! Roll on the next get together! :D x
Are red coats allowed to drink on the job? To be honest, I think I might scare all the young men a bit…
Thank you for making the night such a fun one, and for all the terribly glamorous, flattering photos of me on facebook :-)
Yay you!!!! You can send me chocolate for voting for you ;-) BTW Emma is a totally awesome drinking partner!!! xxx
I could eat a chocolate and then tell you how nice it was? Would that do?
What about thanks for all the free drinks you got and you do make a better dog balloon than me! You and your group were amazing to serve. Come back soon!!!!!! Oh and Jo, thanks for the kiss
Haha! By ‘amazing to serve’ I’m presuming you mean ‘a bloody nightmare’?!
Thanks for all the drinks :-)
… yeah, but it’s still a shame about the karoake!
Congratulations (again)… well deserved.
I was gutted about the karoake!
Can’t say I didn’t try though :-)
That was so funny! I think that photo of Jo on the phone needs to be shared so everyone else can compare it to her blog header! Hehe.. :)
Oh no! That was me!!! Silly Jonny… forgot to log out of his blog after using my computer!!
I don’t know, I quite like living under the illusion of being a flawless, bouncy haired, fresh-faced type…
Well done you!! Well deserved x
Thanks Becky x x
Congrats! I am so pleased that you won. It is much deserved and thanks so much for mentioning me. I have truly enjoyed your blog and the writing of the post apocalyptic camel story, it has been a joy. I am sure it won’t be the last award.
I promise promise promise I will write some more camel story soon – it has been on my mind, just been overtaken with school holidays and catching up with work :-(
It WILL arrive though…
Well done Jo, so happy to have voted and sent votes your way.
Thanks Linda for all your fabulous support! x x
It was great to meet you and the phalic hats were spot on!
I definitely made an impression with those hats. I’d never even made one before – they just seemed to appear in my hands! Says something about me I’m sure…
oh well done lovely, it was great to meet you and such a good night.
Thank you! Lovely to meet you too :-)
you’re welcome hun x
Congratulations!!!!! A well deserved award :o)
Thanks for all your support Sharon :-)
Well done you!!! Very well deserved.
Thanks Lorraine!
Congrats! Have absolutely loved seeing the photos of you :P
So long as I can bring some kind of amusement to people’s lives… even if it is at my own expense. Totally deserved though. How can you expect to wear a giant penis on your head and NOT have someone take a photo??
I like how you never thanked us even in the second thanks.
