Do you buy things when you’re tired and then forget about them?

I woke up on Friday morning to an email from Oliver Bonas.

‘Thank you for your order!’ it said.

Wait what?

I looked at the time of the email – Thursday at 11.19pm.

Ah.

Apparently I had been feeling particularly decadent at 11.19pm because this is what I bought:

sleep shopping

Well. That all looks lovely doesn’t it?

Now don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I had no recollection of it at all, once I’d read the email – I’m not totally losing the plot just yet – it’s just that it was something of a blur in my mind.

You how how sometimes, (perhaps when you were a little bit younger), you’d drink too much, and then next day you’d check your phone and you see that at 2.35am you’d text a boy you liked saying something like ‘Hey! Long time no see? I was just thinking about you and thought I’d say hi!’

At the time it probably felt like an EXCELLENT IDEA, and you were convinced that you’d pitched it perfectly and that it was a super casual 2.35am text. Yeah… no so much.

Anyway. I do the same thing when I’m really tired. I just sort of DO things, thinking they are a good idea, when perhaps if it was the middle of the day I might not.

It’s why I try not to work late at night, because the next day I have to look through my emails to see what I’ve said, only to discover I’ve agreed to do something ridiculous, like live social media coverage of an innovative treatment for post-childbirth vaginal laxity. (Yes, I have agreed to do this. I don’t even think my vagina is particularly lax to be honest, but there we go. I’m doing it for YOU GUYS – bringing you cutting edge investigative journalism.)

Flights are another danger zone for me. I love looking at Skyscanner and seeing all the places I could go, just like some people like browsing RightMove, it’s just that probably I should have a lock on it after a certain time in the evening.

I’m pretty sure I’m not the only person who sleep shops. I asked Facebook and one woman replied saying she had woken up one morning to find she had bought a fridge, and she didn’t even NEED a fridge, so it’s clearly easily done.

Do you do it? What’s the weirdest thing you’ve woken up to find you’ve bought?

Oh, and if you don’t hear from me for a few days in late March it’s because I am in Poland.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who can’t be trusted online in the early hours. I’ve bought some very peculiar stuff due to insomnia, and also thought I’d bought things I hadn’t. I’ve had to turn off one click purchasing on Amazon!

Haha, no I’ve never bought stuff but now I know it’s a real ‘condition’ I might start and use insomnia as my excuse to Hubby
