6 romantic honeymoon destinations to make you swoon

Why romantic honeymoon destinations? A lot of things I read about weddings tell me to remember that your wedding is just one day, to not spend too much money, that it’s the marriage that matters, blah blah blah…

Sure.*

How about the honeymoon then? That’s at least seven whole days, so it figures that I can spend seven times as many hours daydreaming about it, right?

Absolutely.

After much selfless browsing then, all in the name of research, I’ve picked out six of my favourite romantic honeymoon destinations. Take a look, if you dare, but don’t blame me if you get sucked in and spend the next hour dreaming about having a pina colada in your hand.

Beach-front villa in Paje, Tanzania

When you think honeymoon, this is what you think, isn’t it? It’s sun, sea, sand, panoramic roof top terrace – what more could you want? This villa is one of 11 as part of an exclusive complex, so when you’ve had your fill of secluded lounging you can make use of the restaurant, spa or kitesurfing centre.

Yellow Bird Villa in Nevis, St Kitts and Nevis

I picked this one because I loved the sunny yellow colour and it feels like it would be a proper break from real life. It’s just five minutes walk from the villa down to Oualie beach, where you can get involved in lots of watersports and take a water taxi to Turtle Beach, St Kitts, which is just opposite. Half an hour’s walk away is Lovers Beach, an undeveloped and practically deserted stretch of shoreline.

romantic honeymoon destinations

La Meraviglia in Bellagio, Italy

Italy has it all going on, romance-wise, so what better place for a honeymoon? It’s one of the most romantic honeymoon destinations you could wish for. This apartment has lots of plus points, including being just a stone’s throw from the ferry, the beach and the local piazza – a simple and stylish apartment in the heart of the town. The building is 200 years old and once famously housed the only casino in the area, so you’re sure to get lucky here.

Villa Hedonist in Split, Croatia

Croatia has become increasingly popular as a holiday destination over the last few years, and how could I not include somewhere called Villa Hedonist?? Wonderfully chic and sophisticated looking, the Villa Hedonist has a modern yet indulgent feel about it, and is only a short drive into the city and to the famous ancient Diocletian’s Palace. There are plenty of beaches nearby, and there’s a private pool. Natch.

romantic honeymoon destinations

Baan Manu Chang villa in Ao Nang, Thailand

If you’re looking to hide away completely from humanity, this is definitely one to consider. Baan Manu Chang is totally tucked away from prying eyes, and furnished in a traditional yet decadent style. The private pool and exotic garden is beautiful – you couldn’t fail to feel romanced here.

romantic honeymoon destinations

Tinkerbell’s Retreat, Emerald Isle, USA

I know of quite a few friends and blogging buddies who’ve had Disney-themed weddings, so for the Mickey Mouse fans amongst you, how about the vast Tinkerbell’s Retreat, on the closest gated resort to Disney? It’s practically a castle, so ideal for anyone wanting to go big.

Ooh the yellow one, just so cute although Tanzania looks amazing too. As long as you’re together you’ll have a ball although a private pool and sunshine all helps right!? x

How on earth are you going to choose?! I’ve got a secret dream of having a luxury honeymoon in a room that you can swim up to from the pool. Bliss! x

These look seriously stunning, not sure how I would pick! I have no idea where we would go, guess it all depends on how soon Mr C proposes, if it’s soon then we would have to go on a family kind of holiday but if it’s when the kids have left home then the possibilities are endless. Hmm maybe waiting isn’t so bad ;) x

What stunning choices! We went to Lake Como in Italy and I’d go there again. It was great not needing to take a long flight so we could take the most of the time off from work and be able to fly from Bristol Airport instead of having to head over to Gatwick or Heathrow. We also had a bit of a conundrum because we wanted to go somewhere warm but that would feel different to the Caribbean where I grew up. Italy ticked every box. :)

Weddings can be stressful too. But it should not be. Being fun and happy on your wedding day is what it should be and thanks for this article. Helps a lot.

What?? That doesn’t add up, you need to sort that out! Although probably a bit awkward now to go back for honeymoons with the first two…
