Another reason to love Sainsbury’s – for their super cute customer service

Just in case you haven’t yet seen it yet, I thought I’d share this photo of the adorable customer service letter from Sainsbury’s Customer Manager Chris King (aged 27 1/3) to customer Lily Robinson (aged 3 1/2).

Sainsbury's change tiger bread to giraffe bread

And yes, there is a cynical part of me that thinks it’s just a publicity stunt from Sainsbury’s, but frankly I don’t care. Either their customer service or their marketing department are brilliant. High fives to Sainsbury’s.

Oh totally cute if it’s real :-) and agree it looks more like giraffe markings! I do hope it’s re-named Giraffe bread.

Or like you say clever marketing guys :-)

Though is £3 a little stingy or is that just me! Maybe £1 for everyone of her years :-)

Great letters! from both, least they answered Lily! Many stores have forgotten customer services!
Big clap of hands for Sainsbury`s customer service department i think.
And a big clap of hands for Lily :)

More than ever, clever marketing is all about connecting with people. How brilliant this Sainsbury’s rep felt empowered enough to respond like this, I am really impressed, not really thought much about S’Burys before now – it is very Zappos in its approach, if you’ve ever heard about / read about them.

I’ve not heard of Zappos. It is brilliant though, and so true – people buy stuff from people they like basically don’t they?

well i wont say its a publicity stunt. Cos as a buisness, you want your customer to come back and shop again, so being couteous and kind is the way to go.

    • 27 January, 2012 / 2:08 pm

Absolutely, I think people forget that though in big business, which is why this has caused such a stir!

Considering Chris King “left Sainsburys”, draw your own conclusions…

      • 31 January, 2012 / 8:55 pm

Oh yeah! He left to retrain as a primary school teacher the BBC have just told me :-)

just a quick note to let you know that in response to overwhelming customer feedback that our Tiger Bread has more resemblance to a giraffe, from today we will be changing our Tiger Bread to Giraffe Bread and seeing how that goes! http://www.j-sainsbury.co.uk/giraffebread
