An autumn bedroom makeover with Wayfair

If you read my recent post about my new wardrobes, you’ll remember that I promised to show you a bit more of my autumn bedroom makeover.

So this is that.

Because I had to empty the entire room for the wardrobes to be fitted, I wanted to use it as an opportunity to think really carefully about what I wanted to put back in again. All of my clothes and shoes are in the wardrobes now, so really what else do you need? The bathroom is just next door, so that’s where all my toiletries are, and I don’t have piles of make-up or hair products or anything like that. The rest of the house is quite colourful and full of books and plants, (remember my shelves?), so I wanted to keep things REALLY simple for the bedroom makeover.

With the night drawing in, I wanted to add a little bit of autumnal warmth too, with some warm copper colours and pinks. (Autumn doesn’t have to be all brown and dark you know.)

Also, I wanted to add a kitten or two, because I did warn you that I’d be trying to casually drop them into posts wherever I could.

So the first thing I did was to spray my bed pink. It was white before, and very scruffy looking, so while it was in pieces from the wardrobe fitting, I took it outside and sprayed it with some pink Plastikote. Easy peasy. For a little while that was all I had – a pink bed. It was quite liberating. I felt like I was cleansing my soul.

Belle said it looked like a poorly furnished hotel.

And then Wayfair got in touch to see if I wanted to do a little bedroom makeover showcasing some of their lovely things and it ALL FELL TOGETHER.

Hooray!

I think that warrants another kitten shot.

I spent a LOT of time browsing the Wayfair site because they have SO MUCH. Seriously – masses. If you can’t find something you like on there then I have to conclude that you just don’t like anything at all in life. If you find yourself a bit overwhelmed, you can create inspiration boards, so you could have boards for each room in your house and save things you liked as you saw them, so you could make a nice bedroom makeover board to save pretty things to.

I picked three items in the end – a gorgeous rose gold coloured floor lamp that sweeps over towards the bed, a bedside table with a lovely mid-century vibe, and a ceramic jug, so I can always have fresh flowers by my bed because I DESERVE THEM.

Boom.

I absolutely love the lamp.

I’ve wanted something like this in my bedroom for ages, and it makes just the sort of statement I want for my stripped down bedroom look. To finish the warm, autumn vibe, I got one of those vintage style bulbs for it, where the filament glows a beautiful gold colour.

(Let’s take a minute here to appreciate how difficult it is to take a decent picture of a switched on light bulb.)

The bedside table and the jug compliment each other perfectly, and I love that I will be able to use flowers to keep changing the look, while the key pieces remain the same. The white helps to keep things calm and simple, while the wooden legs add warmth and a natural feel.

The little drawer is very handy too for things like glasses and phone chargers and other non-sexy bedroom items.

Obviously to finish off the look I had to go downstairs and choose a couple of my prettiest books. Not that you should judge a book by its cover of course.

I haven’t actually read either of these yet, but I promise I will.

So there you go. That’s it in my bedroom now.

I do have one plant in the opposite corner, but apart from that I want to keep everything exactly as it is. Nothing under the bed, no bric-a-brac anywhere, just a calm, tranquil place to sleep, read beautiful books and stroke kittens.

If your bedroom could do with a bit of TLC then take a look at the Wayfair website for some autumnal inspiration.

I was sent these items by Wayfair for the purposes of this post. All opinions are my own.

I love it so much – while Belle plays Sims I’ve been just sitting on my bed in the evening reading magazines and stroking kittens. It’s LUSH. Ggood to know about the book too – I will DEFINITELY read it now and not just admire the cover :-)

That lamp is amazing! And the bulb. I have some silly glass lamp on a bedside table which I thought was great until I realised my young children just want to pull it off. This would be so much better :)

I LOVE the lamp and the bulb really makes it I think. It was only about four quid on Amazon – it’s the little things isn’t it?
