‘Sandra is always putting stuff on Facebook about what a good stepdad Pete is,’ Fiance said to me the other day. ‘Why don’t you do that?’
‘What, do you want one of those weird poems about dancing between the raindrops?’ I replied, ever the kind and compassionate girlfriend.
‘No,’ he said, looking a bit sulky, ‘just a bit of praise now and then?’
And so I showed my love and appreciation through the only medium I know – GIFTS!
I arranged for him to try out the Cornerstone shaving kit, and here’s what he thought…
In our house, a tube of toothpaste lasts about three weeks. The first 90% goes within the first week, and then the last 10% gets squeezed out of every corner for the remaining fortnight.* For me, it’s the same with razor blades. I use a new one every few shaves and then go back reusing each one of a four pack for a month or so until I remember to take out a mortgage and buy some more, by which point my face looks like I have nappy rash.
If you’re desperately trying to avoid a useless novelty Father’s Day gift to go with the clichéd card with a picture of a football on the floor next to a golf club and a pint of ale, then Cornerstone may be able to come to the rescue.
For just £30, they’ll send you a lovely starter kit of shaving goodies and a £10 gift card. Depending on how often you shave, they’ll then send you new blades in the post at regular intervals. It’s a simple idea, but if you’re like me, it’s a total lifesaver.
Aside from the razor, the products are genuinely really good for your shaving regime. Now I know that most men have little more of a regime than slapping some shaving foam on and shaving as quickly as possible, but I would really recommend their three step guide. There’s a tube of facial scrub to clear away all the dead skin, a lovely cool gel, that works really well with their blades, and a post-shave moisturiser. It’s fresh and leaves everything silky-smooth. I’ve also found it the most relieving after sun, following a day out at the cricket.
I really enjoyed shaving with Cornerstone’s blades. They have five, close-nit blades, meaning fewer repeat strokes of the blade and so less bleeding and rashes. The handle itself is also a really nice weighty design that helps you feel in control of what you’re doing. You can even have it engraved for that extra-special Father’s Day gift touch.
It’s a great idea and a lovely stylish product that’ll make every man’s grooming experience a bit more pleasant. If only they sent toothpaste with it.

*Bit rude, as I’m actually very good and keeping a good stock of toothpaste. We were sent the kit (not including the bag) for the purposes of this review. All opinions our own.
