With a house purchase looming large, (she says hopefully, although it seems to be taking YEARS), I’ve started thinking a lot about interiors. I mean sure, it’s not like I didn’t already think a lot about interiors, but now it’s a bit more real, like I might actually be able to buy things rather than just cut out pictures and stick them on a noticeboard.
One thing I’ve never been able to change, having always lived in rented houses, is the kitchen. When you rent, you’re pretty much stuck with what you’re given kitchen wise, which tends to mean something that’s at least ten or fifteen years out of date. I’m really looking forward to being able to makes changes in our new kitchen, and to really think about what we need and want from it.
In case you’re looking for a bit of kitchen inspiration, Prestige have put together this rather fun infographic about kitchens through the ages. The one that looks most familiar to me is the kitchen from the 1980s, with the ‘interesting’ tiles and those cupboards with the cream coloured doors and brown edges? That pretty much sums up my rented home kitchen experience.
