I put some new shoes on and suddenly everything’s right

That’s a song lyric, but it’s true isn’t it? When you find a pair of shoes that fit you well, and look good too, everything is right with the world.

Growing up, I was really hard to buy shoes for. I have weirdly different sized feet – my right foot is about a size bigger than my left – and my feet are quite wide too. (I’m painting a sexy picture aren’t I?) I can remember going to Street when we were little and trudging from shop to shop looking for school shoes that weren’t impossibly uncomfortable.

I’m not much better now. I pretty much always wear flats, and even the most sensible of shoes leave me with blisters when I first wear them.

I had a bit of a revelation a few months ago when I bought my first pair of Converse, aged 38, and so when Cloggs asked if we wanted to have a browse of their site and pick out a couple of pairs of shoes to try, I went straight for the Converse section.

What I really love about Converse is that although they are ‘sensible’ in the sense that they are flat and comfortable, they come in such a lovely range of colours that you still get to be fun. You can keep them simple with a pair of jeans, or match a brightly coloured pair with a fancy skirt or dress to crank up the funkiness notch a little.

(I’m very aware than the phrase ‘crank up the funkiness notch’ is the least cool thing anyone has ever said.)

Belle’s funkiness notch is already cranked pretty high, so she doesn’t need brightly coloured shoes to feel cool. She had a browse on the Cloggs site for something a little less purple, and was really impressed with the range.

You might think from the name that Cloggs sold clogs, but how wrong you’d be! They sell pretty much all of the shoes. Converse, FitFlop, UGG – a huge range, with something for all ages.

Belle chose a pair of black and white Ralph Lauren trainers that are super versatile and go with everything.

I absolutely love this picture of Belle. Someone else is taking the photo and she is looking back at me out of the corner of her eye. She’s just so pretty! (Not that I’m biased.)

She absolutely loves her new shoes, and the timing could not have been more perfect, as she is growing so quickly at the moment that she had just about outgrown everything else. She wears them with everything, but I think they look really good with her skinny jeans.

Have a look at the Cloggs website and I challenge you NOT to find something you love. (If you like the photos, check out WhoIsBenjamin.)

We were sent these shoes from Cloggs for the purposes of this review. All opinions are my own.

Belle is very pretty and looks so much like her mum! The shoes look good too!
PS I cannot believe she is nearly 15 already. Think she was 11 when I first knew you on Twitter!

She has changed LOADS in the last couple of years too – she is pretty much as tall as me now!
