Review: A spring clean with Fantastic Services

“Would you be interested in having a team of professional cleaners from Fantastic Services come and spring clean your house in return for a review of the service?”

Um, let me think about that for a NANO SECOND.

“Yes please.”

As you know, Boyfriend recently moved out, and this left me with two very good reasons for needing a spring clean. Firstly it has meant that I am having to move house – North Bristol is pretty pricey for single mums who play on the internet for a living – plus I need to be closer to friends and family so they can help with Belle when I decide I want to go to London for the day to play on the internet there instead. Secondly, Boyfriend did all the cleaning that involved getting your hands wet, as I don’t like that.

Understandably then, standards in water related areas have slipped a little over the last few weeks. (I will add, in my defence, that I was also letting them slip, knowing the cleaners were coming, so try not to be too disgusted.)

Fantastic cleanersFantastic Services are the modern day handyman. They offer everything from rubbish clearance to pet sitting, so if you have any sort of job that needs doing they are a great first port of call. I was called by a representative who talked me through what I needed doing, and estimated how long it would take. I was sent a confirmation email that laid out exactly what was going to happen and was told that two people would arrive between 8am and 9am on my chosen day and would stay for four hours.

At exactly 8am there was a knock on the door. The pair doing my cleaning, who had come from the new Fantastic Cleaners Bristol operation, were very friendly and courteous. They hoovered carefully round me as I worked, and they wore those blue plastic things on their feet – a sure sign of a professional in my eyes. There was some confusion over the number of bathrooms I needed cleaning as they were only expecting one, but they did both anyway.

In total they were there for more like five hours, and in that time they:

  • Cleaned the kitchen, including washing the floor and cleaning the oven
  • Cleaned two bathrooms and one downstairs toilet
  • Cleaned all of the windows, inside and out, plus all the mirrors. (They did a great job of this, cleaning all the frames really well too.)
  • Steam cleaned the carpets in my hallway, stairs and landing
  • Dusted and hoovered everywhere, including all the cobwebs around the ceiling
  • Plus they even did adorable things like make the beds, fold up our pyjamas and sit teddies on the top

The only thing they weren’t terribly good at was remembering where things had been, but I found it quite sweet to find everything on shelves and windowsills all just slightly the wrong way round. I don’t think you could call it a negative.

Cleaning wise though, they did an excellent job, and at what would have been a great price too – our package would have been £160 for the two of them for the whole morning – definitely not more than I would expect to pay for a spring clean.

Fantastic cleanersI do of course have that slightly guilty feeling that I’m sure a lot of people get when they have someone come and clean up after them, but I figure that a) I work hard at other things and b) I am really terrible at cleaning, so why not admit it, play to your strengths and get people in to do the rest?

I would definitely use Fantastic Services again – they get a big shiny thumbs up from me.

Loving that someone else can come in and make your house sparkle including things like cleaning the oven which I never get round to, in just a few hours. It’s like majic isn’t it?

It really IS like magic isn’t it? I don’t think I’ve ever had cleaners come in before and I would definitely do it again.

I would love someone else to clean my oven, I mean seriously who would want to do that themselves given a choice? Really sorry to hear you’re moving away but it sounds like the best plan for you and Belle.

Sounds like total bliss a Spring clean done for you! The oven especially hate doing the oven, worse job ever that one! We have that mirror and don’t they make a difference when they are clean, which is good one a good looking day but then not so on a bad one.

Good luck with your move, where ever you are heading. x

    Hey!
The post is really good very useful and informative tips .

I must say that the best way to enjoy the beauty of spring is with the best of health; therefore, it is important that you engage in activities which do not pose a risk to your overall wellbeing.

Safe spring cleaning is a great way to incorporate a healthy change within a lifestyle, provided it is done without the use of different toxic and chemical cleaning materials.

The usual cleaning products available in the market have dangerous chemicals and toxins as their base ingredients, which are very harmful as they cause various skin problems and respiratory disorders in individuals.

Hope this will help you out .
    Keep doing good work.
    God Bless U :)

Well they have definitely gone downhill since then! Avoid at all costs unless you want more problems than you started with.

I booked the supposed FS for a garden tidy and clean last year. However they sent 2 guys who were very sweet but had NO idea about gardening. The first guy cut down my prized Ceonothus tree which had taken me 5 years to grow!!! Literally cut it in half. Cost me over £200 to buy a new one.

The second guy swept up a load of mud and soil, and decided it would be a great idea to sweep it down my drain! Completely blocking it up and causing me to have to get someone in to clear the drain and unblock it.

Using these people cost me about £300 on top of the very expensive £150 for an hours work which I refused to pay in light of the damage they caused. They now want to sue me for not paying and are threatening to take me to court etc etc for non payment.

Really dodgy awful service. To be avoided at all costs!!!!
