Back to school…

It hardly seems like any time at all since I was ‘looking forward’ to six weeks of summer holidays, yet here we are, with only a few days until they are back to school and I can return to messing about on the internet in peace. I mean working of course.

I’ve never been terribly organised when it comes to getting ready to go back to school, so was actually pretty impressed to find myself in Clarks on Monday, a good week and a half before term begins. Despite my valiant attempts at beating the crowds, it was still packed with excitable children and panic-stricken parents, and the dreaded ticket system was in operation. They were on 83 when we arrived and we were number 92. It didn’t take too long though, and when they called out ‘number 92!’ I resisted the urge to ask for 4oz of olives and half a dozen slices of crumbed ham, so all was well.

Given my dislike of all things back to school, and my tendency to get Belle to make do with her old skirts until they look decidedly Mary Quant, I was thrilled when I was approached recently by Tesco and asked if I would like one of their school uniform packs for Belle. I thought about it for about half a second before replying in the affirmative. What a lovely surprise then when we got back from Clarks to find an exciting looking black ribbon-tied box waiting for us…

Inside we had a skirt, trousers, t-shirts, shirts (non-iron thank God) and a lovely wool mix cardigan. We even had some funky pens and pencils too, and a voucher for me to spend online on gin. It didn’t actually say gin, but I felt it was implied.

Fantastic isn’t it? Thank you so much Tesco – now Belle won’t be the only girl in her class in last year’s jumper.

Thanks again Tesco! You know where I am if you have any new lines of wine you want testing…

Wow – that’s fab! I wish I had someone to send me samples of uniforms to test out on the very bouncy Ashley. To be honest though, none really last very long when he spends all day crawling around on his hands and knees and jumping out of trees! I was thinking about sorting it out over the weekend but I have already found a million and one other things far more interesting to be doing! Shout me when you are looking for someone to test the wine and share the gin with… xx

Unfortunately, when I checked the voucher, it was just for clothes, so I will just have to buy the gin out of my food budget instead :-(

What a great set! I must remember to try to rub knees with Tesco’s in time for next year… ;)

Yep, I’m pretty pleased with my organisational skills this year. Although I did have to send Bee out for bread rolls for lunch boxes at the last minute…
