Happy Mothers Day!

I don’t have anything clever or funny to say today. (Don’t stop reading though).

I just wanted to say a genuine, heart-felt ‘Happy Mothers Day’ to all the wonderful mummies who read my blog, and to those that don’t (seriously – what’s wrong with it?). We spend everyday reflecting on ourselves as mothers, questioning our parenting, wondering if we are doing a good enough job… Well today is the day to say ‘actually, I do a pretty damn good job. Maybe sometimes I’m not as patient as I’d like, maybe sometimes we eat chicken nuggets, but I do my best, and that is good enough.’

So please give yourself a big pat on the back for doing your best at what is surely the most challenging job in the whole wide world. Go on… actually do it… no really, I’m watching, I’ll know if you don’t. How will I know? Mummies just DO.

Happy Mother’s Day to you too!

You’re right, I spend far too much time questioning my abilities as a parent, and we definitely eat breaded frozen products far too often in this house. But today is definitely a day to celebrate and remind myself that perhaps I’m not so rubbish after all. =)

Mother’s Day isn’t until May in Canada, but I want to wish you a very Happy Mother’s Day Jo! It sounds to me as if you’re doing a great job as a parent and your two lovely daughters are a testament to the fact. I hope you have a beautiful day!

Happy Mother’s Day to you to Jo! Mine was vastly improved by going for a long cycle ride with my lovely daughter – our spirits lifted by the minute as we rode along in the sunny breeze – and a spontaneous decision to go out for a pub lunch afterwards!

You’re right – it is the toughest job in the world and it can feel like the loneliest job in the world when you do it alone.

It’s very important to look after yourself so that you feel good enough to keep on looking after them. (You know who I mean).

One of the surprisingly wonderful thing I discovered about chicken nuggets, is how well they go with red wine…..
